What will you be watching on TV tonight (2024)?

We used to love going to the movies and when we were dating and first married, we’d go to the movies several times a week, sometimes even watching movies back-to-back at the multiplex.

These days, I don’t really care for going, mainly because I can’t put up with d!ckheads and their damn phones. It’s like a laser light show going off if the room is crowded enough.

MrsT loves going, though, so we compromise and go well after a movie has first come out, and I’ll usually take a half-day off so we can go on a Wednesday at 2PM, something like that.

The last movie we saw in a cinema was Dune II, not long ago, and there were maybe three other people in there, and it was at the fancy place with cushy leather recliners and a full bar.

Babylon 5 is free on the Roku channel.
I watched the whole thing, all five seasons, on Tubi about a year or so ago. Still holds up very well, and the parallels to today are more than a little spooky.

I get that. When I was in my 20s I had a TV but didn't have cable and the only thing I watched on it was VHS tapes of movies. I would listen to music, play my guitar, or read when I was home.

My sister-in-law watches a lot of podcasts on her iPad and listens to music all day, she has a TV with a Roku and a Prime subscription but I'd bet she hasn't turned on her TV yet this whole year except when my brother was home (he works out of town and only comes home for a week or so once every couple of months).
Wow. Thank you for sharing.

Last night I watched The Beach Boys documentary on Disney.
Really enjoyed it. It’s nearly two hours long and I have a short attention span when it comes to television but it flew by.
It also didn’t do that endless recap thing or keep treading over the same ground that makes me switch off. It was their story told in a linear fashion by the people who were/are actually involved.

Had no idea The Beach Boys and The Beatles had a rivalry going on.
To me they were always completely separate entities with little in common!

Endless recap and treading over old ground annoys me and have switched of a few programmes because of it. Personally I prefer the Beach Boys, never really a Beatles fan.

I like them both. They both had a huge impact in different ways.

But the endless recap thing omg I can’t stand it.
I was pregnant or breastfeeding for literally years so was the designated driver and I had a rule that once they got to the stage in the evening where they were repeating themselves for the third time I was out of there!
Documentaries now often break my third repeat rule within the first episode. Just unbearable filler in an empty badly made programme!

We just watched “Falling for Figaro,” with one of my all-time-right-up-there-with-Mary-Tyler-Moore-and-Dawn-Wells celebrity crushes…the incomparable Dame Joanna Lumley, as a delightfully sadistic singing coach. She was, as she always is, brilliant in it.

I’ve tried to convince MrsT to don a blonde wig and scold me harshly in a husky posh voice, but all she said was, “I’m willing to do one of those…and I don’t have a wig. Now shut your mouth, you naughty, naughty boy!”

Time to say goodnight!

:bravo:

But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Yeah my memory isn't what it once was apparently lol.

Huge John Lennon fan and adore the Beatles...had a crush on George especially lol.

Liked the Beach Boys quite well. They played our spring break concert in my senior year 1980...it was on the beach and Heart played as well.
