What will you be watching on TV tonight (2025)?

It's ok. There's going to be ANOTHER series starting this summer.

Dexter: Resurrection

I'm very interested in Jack the Ripper. I watch shows whenever I see them. I can't find that under that name. Do you have a link, please?

There is a whole list of them on IMDB but the one you have here.

Find - IMDb
Until it get’s sold to an American broadcaster you’d need access to the BBC iPlayer. A VPN can sometimes do this is for you (if have one) but they do keep tightening up on that tech so it’s not a given.

The series on the BBC is called ‘Lucy Worsely Investigates’. The Jack the Ripper episode is series 2 episode 1
She present’s in a very British ripping yarn style which can be entertaining.

I can’t link it because bizarrely the iPlayer doesn’t have a ‘share this’ feature. Go figure!

I should say that the Lucy Worsely Jack the Ripper programme is not about who the Ripper is, it is a look at how the story took the world by storm, how that story was reported and how it started our long fascination with gory serial killers.

It coincided with the newspapers mastering printing on a large scale and a sudden increase in literacy.
They decided to printed a map of exactly where the murders had occurred and thousands traipsed from place to place looking at where they had happened in what was the first kind of tourist trip for mass murder as they still do now!
Strange to think that Jack the Ripper tours still happen today when they started in 1888.

I would probably go on that tour.

Also adding…we did one of those Ripper tours way back in the early ‘90’s, but instead of the usual touristy theatrical tour, we booked one with some nerdy Ripper expert (someone who’d be occasionally called in to comment on this or that on TV shows, etc), so his tour was rather…intense, and with a lot of information (all of which I’ve forgotten by now).

We watched that last night.

msmofet - it’s shown on PBS here in the US. I watch it through their app and my local PBS affiliate. Without a subscription, you get a week to watch an episode before they lock it.
THANK YOU both. Just searched it. Set DVR to record series. Going to watch Jack the Ripper episode right now, on PBS On Demand. Be back later.

It’s also where we watch the latest episodes of All Creatures Great and Small, and Miss Scarlet (now minus The Duke).
I recall reading those books mid 70's while laid up for a bit. All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful, All Things Wise and Wonderful. Thought I wanted to be a vet till I got to the part where sometimes you had to put them down. 😧
