Words!!!

Slubberdegullion
It means a filthy slobbering person. I’ve only used it once and the man in question really was truly awful.
Unfortunately as I muttered it under my breath as he walked away someone I was at a dog show with caught it and asked what it meant.
They laughed a lot and from that day on he was always referred to by everyone as The Slubberdegullion 😬
Fortunately he showed Dandie Dinmonts so we hardly ever bumped into each other.

Good word though, evocative.
I like that word. I'm going to use that! 👍

One of my favourites with language students is posh. they think it just means classy, but it's actually an acronym for Port Out, Starboard Home.
Upper class Edwardian ladies loved a cruise but would never dream of getting suntanned, so the shade was on the port side when the ship left the harbour, and the starboard side on the way back.

Yeah not a lot of people know that. I've explained it dozens of times.

Mr SSOAP has ‘word of the day’ sent to his phone. He very rarely mentions them but today’s is brilliant.

SPUDDLE - a useful verb from the 17th Century that means to work feebly or ineffectively, because your mind is elsewhere or you haven't quite woken up yet. It can also mean: “To be extremely busy whilst achieving absolutely nothing.

I’m definitely having a spuddle day today 😂

As long as you're not slubberdegullioning along you'll be fine! 😄

Ahem...no offense, but aren't many of your days (or at least a few hours of each day) spent spuddling? I know mine are! It is winter, afterall, what are we supposed to do?

How's your injury? Hope you are getting out of the soreness phase and that no ribs or anthing else were broken.

Lol, maybe a few, probably like the rest of the forum I wouldn’t be on here if I wasn’t busy spuddling 😂

Thanks for asking it’s quite slow going but moving in the right direction so whatever damage I’ve done it’s not too serious.
It may take a couple of months to repair rather than the week or two I was hoping for but I’ve adjusted my expectations accordingly 👍
Sorting out the cinema room before end Feb is now firmly out of the window which is disappointing but heyho that’s life!
