Your country looks beautiful. The train ride reminds me of the ride from Cairns to Kuranda (in Australia) which I experienced back in the 90's.

Thanks. It is beautiful but increasingly all the beautiful places are getting crowded and built up. For example Ella was a tiny rural village without even a shop. There were some plantation worker houses and that's all. Today there are banks, pizza ovens, and cappuccino shops. It's totally a purpose built tourist village with every inch built up.

The train ride is still beautiful though, and the train goes through 46 tunnels. One favourite photo of any tourist is the one taken from the foot-board. If you Google "Ella train ride" that's the kind of photo you would see. lol.

I personally prefer the tiled ceilings. I can recognize the mastery of Renaissance art but I'm not a huge fan personally.

Gorgeous.

I was driven from Colombo to Sigiriya via Kandy long, long ago and the scenery along the way is the most breathtaking I've ever seen. Sri Lanka is realllly beautiful up-country.
