Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of any product created by or obtained from any living creature.
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. Distinctions may be made between several categories of veganism. Dietary vegans refrain from consuming animal products, not only meat but also eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived substances. The term ethical vegan is often applied to those who not only follow a vegan diet but extend the philosophy into other areas of their lives, and oppose the use of animals for any purpose. Another term is environmental veganism, which refers to the avoidance of animal products on the premise that the industrial farming of animals is environmentally damaging and unsustainable. Interest in veganism increased in the 2010s, especially in the latter half. More vegan stores opened and vegan options became increasingly available in supermarkets and restaurants in many countries.
I'm not gluten free, but I do love chickpeas so this recipe was a must try for me.
I used a very light vegan Pilsner beer, but any vegan beer would make it vegan. But if you want a gluten-free loaf, you'll need to track down a gluten free beer. And if you don't want to use beer or can't have...
So what is needed to make a pretzel vegan? Well the first thing is to switch out the milk and butter. Easily done. You can use any non-dairy milk but soy milk or something called "Not Milk" are both ideal. The butter can be replaced with either vegan butter or a dairy free margarine. If using a...
I've adapted this recipe from the July edition of the Vegan Food & Living Magazine.
I've used their Aubergine bacon and my prefered vegan cheese sauce.
You'll need a very sharp knife and very fresh aubergines in order to make this work and resemble in appearance, traditional bacon pieces. Mine...
This recipe takes longer to get everything out or even read, than it actually does to make, if you are not needing to soak your cashew nuts. If you use blanched almonds you will very definitely need to soak your nuts. It is also good with macadamia nuts as well.
I've adapted this from Julie...
Today I am going to share with you an unusual recipe of Spring onion greens, coconut in melon seeds and cashew that you might not have even heard of. Have you ever tasted vegetable prepared with this combination? No! Then you must give this amazing recipe a try at least once.

I made a slightly toned down version for our café, but I think I can trust you to not be afraid of a little bit of heat. And garlic. And sour. After the first time I made this dish, it was a big enough hit that we still offer it as a weekly special every Friday. It's sold out by lunch and has...
Healthy Boiled vegetables means combination of variety of vegetables whether chopped, julienned or cubed which are used in variety of ways. The list for boiled vegetables keeps on updating according to what one wants to prepare. One can also use these vegetables in soup and can prepare mix...
Keema is an Indian curry traditionally made with minced meat (often mutton or goat). This vegan version uses soya granules in place of meat. Sometimes peas are added and indeed you could add some frozen peas to this recipe if you like. Add them a few minutes before the end of cooking. The whole...
I know what you're thinking. She's totally lost it, completely, utterly bonkers...
You know I hate waste. I use as much of a vegetable or fruit as possible, but banana peel along with coffee grinds constitute at least ⅓ of my composting and hubby hates cutting up his banana peel. So I was...
I have some frozen crushed ginger (1 cube = 1 teaspoon) and some ground ginger and some medium curry powder.
Can I use these in place of the ginger and curry leaves mentioned in this recipe? If so, how much would you recommend?

Jackfruit makes a surprisingly good vegan alternative to pulled pork. I've made it once before in a bbq style, but I used this recipe for a tex-mex lunch party. It's based on a recipe from Feasting at Home.
When making pulled jackfruit, the trick is to make sure the jackfruit is as dry as...
Korean Braised Tofu. I dont have many vegan dishes, but here is one.
spicy, nutty. very good. I rarely get much because my wife eats it while I do dishes.
I first made this a few months ago but found the taste not quite to my liking, my lemons are sweet and frankly diluting the juice by the volume suggested in the original recipe (Lemon jelly, classic and strong version! Vegan and gluten free!) left the lemon taste quite vague, so I thought I'd...
So, yeah, first off they are slightly green naturally if you use limes. You could use lemons, but mine are quite sweet, so I went with limes but there's also no reason you couldn't use a small orange instead and go for slightly orange coloured and flavoured ones. Really the flavoring is up to...
Thai aubergines (eggplants) are rather different from the purple skinned, spongy fleshed type. They are smaller than ping pong balls and either green or white with a crisp flesh. They can be eaten raw or added to stir fries, retaining their crisp texture. Here I cooked them until tender which...
Since your looking for topics, what are your feelings on vegan foods? Do you like the hyper processed foods or homemade varieties? Any suggestions for something to try?
Myself, I love sprouted grains and beans. In the summer I'll sprout a great variety of things and grab a handful here and...
So about 2 weeks ago I opened up a can of coconut milk but didn't use the whole can. I poured the remainder of the coconut milk in a glass jar, sealed it tightly and put it in my refrigerator. Online sources state it will last about 7-10 days, but I am hoping it lasts longer. It still looks...
