vegan

Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of any product created by or obtained from any living creature.
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. Distinctions may be made between several categories of veganism. Dietary vegans refrain from consuming animal products, not only meat but also eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived substances. The term ethical vegan is often applied to those who not only follow a vegan diet but extend the philosophy into other areas of their lives, and oppose the use of animals for any purpose. Another term is environmental veganism, which refers to the avoidance of animal products on the premise that the industrial farming of animals is environmentally damaging and unsustainable. Interest in veganism increased in the 2010s, especially in the latter half. More vegan stores opened and vegan options became increasingly available in supermarkets and restaurants in many countries.

    Recipe Lemon or Lime Jelly

I first made this a few months ago but found the taste not quite to my liking, my lemons are sweet and frankly diluting the juice by the volume suggested in the original recipe (Lemon jelly, classic and strong version! Vegan and gluten free!) left the lemon taste quite vague, so I thought I'd...

Recipe Zesty Lime & Pistachio Tarts

So, yeah, first off they are slightly green naturally if you use limes. You could use lemons, but mine are quite sweet, so I went with limes but there's also no reason you couldn't use a small orange instead and go for slightly orange coloured and flavoured ones. Really the flavoring is up to...

    Recipe Curried Thai aubergine

Thai aubergines (eggplants) are rather different from the purple skinned, spongy fleshed type. They are smaller than ping pong balls and either green or white with a crisp flesh. They can be eaten raw or added to stir fries, retaining their crisp texture. Here I cooked them until tender which...

    Vegan foods, yeah or nay?

Since your looking for topics, what are your feelings on vegan foods? Do you like the hyper processed foods or homemade varieties? Any suggestions for something to try? Myself, I love sprouted grains and beans. In the summer I'll sprout a great variety of things and grab a handful here and...

How long will canned coconut milk keep after being opened?

So about 2 weeks ago I opened up a can of coconut milk but didn't use the whole can. I poured the remainder of the coconut milk in a glass jar, sealed it tightly and put it in my refrigerator. Online sources state it will last about 7-10 days, but I am hoping it lasts longer. It still looks...

    Recipe Pizza Flavoured Kale Crisps

So I thought it time to change the flavour if the usual kale crisps I make from our Sweet White Miso Kale Crisps to pizza flavoured.... If you don't have a dehydrator, some ovens go low enough as do some airfryers. Line a baking tray with ovenproof greaseproof/baking paper. So, the kale...

    Recipe Colcannon

I love the simplicity of this recipe. Quantities really do not need to be exact and if you want to use dairy milk and dairy butter, it really won't affect it. The original recipe says to peel the potatoes, but I can tell you now that that is not necessary at all. The greens can be pretty much...

I've adapted a recipe from one of my cookbooks. It was a freebie cookbook from a hotel in Blackpool (Lancashire, UK). Recipe Parsnip & Turnip Stew

This is a simple recipe, but it yields something that’s very complex in character. Parsnips have a quality that’s like carrots infused with nutmeg. Recipe Keralan style tomato curry

Keralan cooking often uses tamarind and coconut milk in curry dishes. This particular dish doesn’t include coconut milk but has a hot, sour and aromatic flavour reminiscent of Keralan cuisine.
