Chips, French Fries, Wedges and Any Other Hot Stick Shaped Potatoes

Whilst looking for ingredients I saw these. Not chips but I think I’ll have to give them a spin out.

My husband does the same when he shops. He doesn't look at the price. If I really want something, I will buy it regardless of price (unless it's insanely exorbitant), but I will still look at the prices.
I didn’t notice the price since I was wasn’t looking for one, I just happened to see it in their Aisle of Treasures as I was strolling through.

Yeah, I get it. I'd still look at the price though. Never know when you might need to grab something for a gift for someone when you aren't shopping for yourself! Gotta love Aldi finds...

What's that weird looking sauce at the bottom right?
I don’t know, if I had to bet I’d say it’s something like branston pickle because bubble and squeak is often served with cold cuts.
You use Sunday lunch leftovers to make the bubble and squeak from the veg, slice up any leftover cold meat and serve it with pickles.

It’s a speedy reward the next day or so after the hard work of Sunday lunch.
But I only ever experience that at Christmas because my lot will eat 2kg (about 4 1/2llb) or more of roast potatoes in one sitting and you can’t make good bubble and squeak without potato!

Just out of interest, does anyone make their own hash browns?
Or their own chips/fries?

Not any more. I've tried all the ways, but it's a lot of hassle; you need a large volume of oil to maintain temperature then if you're going to do it properly there's par boiling then double frying... I can't be bothered. I've considered investing in a proper deep fryer but then I'll end up eating too much deep-fried food and will get fat(ter).

These days (..and I know this might sound a bit heretical) I have a method whereby I will take frozen chips or fries (my family quite likes those crinkle cut ones) and I will do the first cook direct from the freezer in the air fryer. Meanwhile I've got oil heating up and when it's ready I take my fries from the air fryer and they go into hot oil for a few minutes to crisp up and brown. This way they are already at quite a high temperature so my oil doesn't cool so much and I spend half the amount of time standing all sweaty in front of a large pot. They turn out pretty well.

I find this persons recipe’s a bit hit and miss (tbh mostly miss, she’s home cook with a love of sugar and I already have my own versions of most of her stuff) but I really like these hash browns. They look like Tastys.
Couple of poached eggs on top for breakfast, lovely.

It’s 2mins 39 seconds long.
