Hmm I’ve not try that, sounds kinda niceI love sauté potatoes, but after they get a bit crisp I sometimes mash them into a mound where they stick together that's similar to a hash brown patty, just not deep fried.

I don’t think I know what YMCA potatoes are?I can buy frozen chips/fries here, but they cost about triple the price of a kilo of potatoes, so it's definitely cheaper to make my own.
Hash browns; I've had mixed results, I have to admit, so usually stick to YMCA potatoes for breakfast.
Yesterday's muck cooked again I think...which is certainly a practical and delicious way to avoid food waste.I don’t think I know what YMCA potatoes are?
Yes!Just out of interest, does anyone make their own hash browns?
Or their own chips/fries?
Did you just thaw some hash browns or did you shred fresh potatoes? I mean, not like there's anything wrong with buying frozen hashbrowns, I've done that.
That’s from a few years ago, but I’m going to say I shredded those myself.Did you just thaw some hash browns or did you shred fresh potatoes? I mean, not like there's anything wrong with buying frozen hashbrowns, I've done that.
I need a waffle iron. I bought one for my oldest daughter from Aldi a few years ago for $10. I don't know why I didn't pick one up for myself! That’s from a few years ago, but I’m going to say I shredded those myself.
I was just there and they’re back in stock…I need a waffle iron. I bought one for my oldest daughter from Aldi a few years ago for $10.
Still $10?I was just there and they’re back in stock…![]()
I’d be very interested to hear if that works.I need a waffle iron. I bought one for my oldest daughter from Aldi a few years ago for $10. I don't know why I didn't pick one up for myself!
It's making me wonder if I had a really large russet potato and I microwaved it for a few minutes (until just underdone), then cut it into thick slices, if I couldn't just use the waffle iron to make waffle fries shapes for waffle fries? If I had a waffle iron, LOL.
Well I have to make a quick Aldi run soon, maybe tomorrow...but the potato would have to be only partially cooked, just enough where it could be molded, but if cooked too much they would fall apart in the fryer.I’d be very interested to hear if that works.
That’ll be the tricky part I should imagine. Just googled it, they look great..
