How is the corona virus affecting you?

My oldest stepson is getting a covid test tomorrow because he's been breathing so loudly today that I could hear him breathe upstairs while we were downstairs.

He also has no taste or smell and a congested nose. My husband and I have very mild cold symptoms, and I have barely a sniffle. But the daycare our eldest goes to had 17 (!) Infected staff members last week, so better get tested..
Good luck with the test!

I just heard about this. I loved her smile.

Dawn Wells, who played the loveable castaway Mary Ann Summers on "Gilligan's Island," died in Los Angeles on Wednesday from Covid-19 complications, her publicist Harlan Boll confirmed to CNN.

I saw that on the evening news tonight. Both MrsT and I got a little misty-eyed over it. Ms. Wells' Mary-Ann was the quintessential girl-next-door and farmer's-daughter all rolled into one.

Not only that, but very few people had much bad to say about her, she stayed close to all the GI cast members, particularly Bob Denver and Alan Hale, whom she adored, and instead of becoming bitter about being typecast, she embraced her role as a cultural icon and always made time for her fans. She was going out to fan conventions for meet-and-greets right up until the pandemic hit. She was a real trouper.

I heard that about her too. I seem to recall, IIRC, that Ms. Wells was one of your (million ;-) celebrity crushes in that thread I started. LOL

Like "Janet" from "Three's Company", she just seemed so down-to-Earth and sweet. I can't believe we are almost at a year this dang virus has gripped the world. I think everyone on the planet is hoping for a better new year. I know I do.

My wife has taken a hammering since before Christmas, our favorite cousin in Serbia 19 years old nephew died in a car crash. Each visit we make ends with a big family gathering at there farm. I liked him a lot because he had no nationalistic hatred in him. The number of relatives and friends in the UK, Croatia and Serbia with Covid has grown enormously since the 20th. The only good news was from DR Tina, it appears that we are both on the priority list for the vaccine.

Dear Marina,

I added you to the vaccination list so we can talk when he comes.

I want to see more of this type of response to the imbeciles among us. "
POLICE officers found a 51-year-old woman from the wider Križevci area on the street in Križevci at around 10.30 today.

"The check established that she was sentenced to Covid - treatment at home until December 29, which she was obliged to perform at the address of her residence, which she did not adhere to, but went to the bank and the store," the police wrote.

"Upon expiration of the measure, police officers will conduct a criminal investigation and file a criminal complaint for committing a criminal offense under Article 180 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code Spread and transmission of a contagious disease," police said." Bravo!

I'm glad you both made the priority list. Hopefully, the new year will be better for the whole world.

A really good video comparing the Flue Pandemic of 1918 to the Covid-19 pandemic. I was amazed at the similarities in the two pandemics. It is surprising how history seems to be repeating itself, particularly in the way our leaders handled both pandemics.

Unfortunately the video is not available to view in the UK - and probably Europe.

I did hear a Radio 4 programme which compared the two pandemics. It was quite fascinating.

I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately the police only seem to act here when its public or private gatherings of lots of people mixing. I've seen three neighbours here breaking rules over Christmas by admitting friends and relatives who do not live with them into their houses (and these are not people in support bubbles which should be the only exception). If that is typical of all the other areas in Tier 4 then I despair.

Why are you both on the priority list if you don't mind my asking? Here I'm 5th priority due to age, I think. And for those who are currently prioritised (80 plus and health workers etc.) this doesn't mean that those they live with get the vaccine.

We saw a bunch of eight people on Christmas Day who evidently thought that a group hugging and kissing session in our street was a great idea. Mind numbing.

At least the grotty pub near us seems - eventually - to have got the message and has been fully shut for several weeks now. From what I gather, both the police and local council "had a word." Clearly, the word was clear enough even for the Neanderthal who runs the place to comprehend.

Tina is a friend of my wife's. I asked her the same question when I went in for my first free flu shot here and she vaccinated my wife for free. For flu ( I presume it's the same for covid) she forms a list of 300 who get it first. Only 220 turned up, she expects even less for covid vaccination. So she would sooner use the vaccine on the willing.

Very little fruit and veg in Aldi today. Probably a combination of covid and Brexit. Mum found the same at her Aldi (20-30 mins drive from us). I didn't need much as I got lots of veg from the market last week. Mum, being a good home cook, got what was there rather than what she went in for.

I wonder what the next few weeks will be like.
