How is the corona virus affecting you?

They did take out last year but people ordered but didn't pick up or pay so food was wasted, they decided not to do it again, a shame really but some people are stupid and selfish.
Yeah, the only way that works for most restaurants is to get payment in advance. They couldn't get people to give CC info over the phone? Ordering online and paying is a huge ordeal for small non-chain restaurants to deal with, I get it, there's a big cost setting up that kind of thing.

It was the 1st time they had ever done it so it was a learning curve.

Yeah, has been known for a few months now. Deer seem fine healthwise and the USDA said people won't get it from deer, but who knows really. Apparently most farm animals, dog, and cats have had many of the coronaviruses in the past and from what I understand this is the first time in the wild that it's been detected. I wouldn't worry about to much but if someone finds themselves face to face with a deer.....wear a mask and social distance. :okay:

Well, as I predicted our Premier has decided to shut down just about everything. Their modeling has predicted from 1000 to 2000 hospitalizations a day apparently and this is the reason for the shutdown. It hasn't happened yet and this increase in Hospitalizations would represent more hospitalizations than in all of Britain and they have 4 times the population of Ontario.

Their modeling of course is WCS (worse case scenario) which means nobody vaccinated, no natural immunity and absolutely no mitigation like masks, social distancing, hand sanitation or other gov't interventions like shutdowns or closures. Maybe look at current data from around the world like a good scientists and epidemiologists would. The hospitalizations in London who have very little mitigation with Ireland who have probably the highest has made no difference in Hospitalizations and death with Omicron......you don't need to be a rocket surgeon to at least have that make a few synapsis come to life in the brain to then have a logical conversation and critical thinking. Instead it's 0 covid, nobody can die and if some do, they can't blame us because we did everything.....no mention of collateral or unintended repercussions since the beginning......it will all come out in the wash and not having collected data will be absolutely no defense when this goes to court, because it will.

Data has been emerging from the beginning of November from many Countries that is consistent and that is, we now have a virus that is basically effecting the population no worse than a flu virus. 4 to 8 thousand people die of the flu here every year, and I suspect based on that emerging data that Omicron is similar. We need to get on with life instead of destroying it.

I'm venting and getting frustrated with the Queen Marry that is the Gov't.

I agree, GH...The governments restrictions are worse than the virus in some ways...we've been ok since we dumped the full service dining..we will open as usual and things should carry on as normal..if, the health inspector doesn't come in with unreasonable and nonsensical demands..we've yet to have problems with them but I don't trust them anymore...we'd never have imagined this sort of stuff would happen and it has...I understand the burden on the hospital system, but I don't think they are targeting the sources adequately..but, why should I expect government to get things right? Good luck with everything..

Cheers!

It has to be mentioned as well, that most of the hospitalization in Ontario for omicron are incidental, meaning people go to the hospitals for other reasons and because testing is required they're also diagnosed with covid, all were asymptomatic. We have just over 200 people in ICU and not sure how many are on ventilators but it's been less than half. Basically the ICU depts and ventilators have not been stressed in Ontario at all, just a lot of people infected.

The problem in hand now is the availability of the workforce and the short staffing that this automatically effects, especially hospitals,. The gov't has reduced the time to isolate for these people to 5 days from 10.

Texas is going through another surge. Our governor is at the same time slamming the president for his mandates, while begging the Federal Government for money and other assistance to cope with the overloaded/understaffed hospitals and other resources.

Deer are running around all over the place where I live. No snow ATM, but I have found deer tracks in my backyard in the snow on many occasions in the past years. Over at the park across the street during the summer, it's not uncommon to come face-to-face with a deer while walking on the trails in early evening. My neighbor is more likely to come face-to-face with a deer: while he's skinning and gutting it.

I believe the USDA has a link for hunters addressing this. From the little I read they do assure that consuming is fine but I didn't really get into it.

Well yeah, I am pretty sure most people aren't consuming it raw, and I haven't heard of anyone getting covid from eating an animal (or human animal, LOL) who may have been infected with it, cooked or not.

But if the hunter shoots it and the animal is still breathing when he comes upon it to make a final kill and field dress it, I think he might have a chance of contracting it.

As I mentioned in the general chat, I tested positive today. The weird thing is my wife tested negative. I assume she will probably test positive in a day or two, but for now we're sleeping in separate rooms and I'm wearing a mask around the house. Will see how this goes over the next few days...
