How is the corona virus affecting you?

Painful and stiff arm again, was told while being vaxxed that being on blood thinners makes it more painful. Explains a lot. But it will subside in another 24 hours as last time. Now awaiting for the flu like symptoms to come, I've had them for a day with every shot.

Can I confess something? I am getting down right bored with the COVID crisis. It's gone on for too long and people have chatted it up forever and ever - amen. Here a variant, there a mutation, not everybody wears a face mask, tests or gets vaccinated. The world rolls on. Lunacy has taken a foot hold in my country, to an unbelievable degree and it,s become a din, noise, a bad dream.

I'm bored with the whole thing and am going to turn inward to seek solace in other things that give me contentment, while scratching the psoriasis on my forehead and distancing myself from people who lately, seemed bored too, enough to stop the distancing and mask wearing.

The virus, the lunacy, the new clothing item called a face mask are likely to be the norm for quite some time to come and I accept that all, but like the TV, I am turning it off.

They have a word for that here ' coronamoe' and it means " tired of the corona crisis" .
Everyone gets burned out by a constant state of red alert eventually, it's totally normal.

I've gone through all the stages of grief, anger, sadness, denial and acceptance. I am finally at acceptance now .

I generally keep away from too much covid-19 related news, it can get depressing. This thread is one of the few places I talk about it

I just got bored with it, not depressed by it. I'm glad you have accepted it. This is my last post in this thread.

Yeah, covid19 fatigue is near saturation point. When emotions are peaked for this long it's bound to happen, indifference basically.

Fear and guilt are strong emotions that have been played like a fiddle in quite a few Countries which generally also end in big tribal feuds pitting one opinion, political party against the other in multiple scenarios generally. Personally I believe it's a top down problem based in misinformation and politics and less about the science. People aren't completely comfortable with the information they're given for the most part.

Compound this with a Country like the USA and other variables that interacts like North, South, East and West that accentuate these problems like it's geography where climate plays a big role in infection rates and where you have half the country (north) with a cold season or winter and the other half (south) less cold to hot. Also, all 4 regions have totally different populations, lifestyles, attitudes and politics, it's a mess really. Throwing insults at each other showing current time differences as proof only to be totally proved wrong when the same elements happen to them, then it's crickets......quite insane really.

Vaccinating even with the existing vaccines is still enough to show what having some immunity will do for a country. For example last December in the USA there was almost 17,000 hospitalizations a day and now is around 9,000, also 3,400 deaths compared with 1200 this December and this is happening now with Omicron. The difference is from the vaccine roll outs and natural immunity within the population, that isn't being properly accounted for, which is about as political as it gets and then people wonder why people don't trust the gov't and CDC.

Yeah, it's no wonder people are fed up.

On the subject of wearing masks:

I don't know what's worse, that I actually just mimed a going-to-the-restroom motion to the dental office receptionist or that she nodded her head and whispered, "Just around the corner."

Covid burnout is a worldwide thing. Everyone is ready for it to go away. But, the virus doesn't care what we want.

I'm tired of it, but not to the level of "burnout." I have found my own risk level, and wear a mask when I feel the risk is sufficient to warrant it, such as in a crowded grocery store. But, as soon as I get outside and away from people, the mask comes off. I can live with that, and have gotten used to it. Being self employed, I can also run my errands in the middle of a weekday afternoon, when stores are not busy.

I am triple vaxxed, and will get the next booster when necessary. That's going to be a new normal, at least for a while. I'm okay with that.

I trust science, and the scientific method. I also realize that science is ALWAYS evolving, so I don't get freaked out when guidance from scientists evolve with the science.

There's another film crew at the pub right now, I assume it's the BBC this time. Alan is turning into a bit of a Covid TV star, the media always seem to go to him to talk about the hospitality industry and the pandemic.

Any press is good press, they say. Maybe his business will pick up, even if it is take out.

A lot of restaurants in London are selling make-at-home meal kits, and doing quite well with them. They haven't taken off in the Dallas area. Too bad. But, seems people would rather get take out, and eat their food after a 30 minute drive home.

Occasionally we will get Texas Roadhouse takeout and I will get the steak rare and finish it to MR at home. I miss going to restaurants (we haven't eaten in a restaurant since late 2019).

All restaurants in England are fully open without restrictions and are doing OK despite some nervousness in their clients. Tonight there are 150 people in the pub, and the band sounds really good. We often go for new year to meet with our friends, but for other reasons we are staying home this time.

On the rare occasion where I have to go inside somewhere, I always wore a mask. Nowadays I wear two, a paper mask underneath and a cloth one over the top. I also purchased some KN95 masks but haven't used them yet.

They did take out last year but people ordered but didn't pick up or pay so food was wasted, they decided not to do it again, a shame really but some people are stupid and selfish.
