How is the corona virus affecting you?

In Ontario we have a daily case count of 9571 up from 5790 yesterday, which was a record. That's one very active virus.
1539 were unvaccinated
356 partially vaccinated
7424 fully vaccinated
254 vaccination status unknown.
68 new hospitalizations
A total of 164 in ICU, down 5 from previous day.
1 less person on a ventilator.
6 new deaths, down 1 from previous day

There were 508 people in hospital due to COVID-19 on Friday, up from 440 on Thursday and 382 one week ago. Last April during the peak of the delta wave Ontario has just over 2000 in hospital with death in the 20's and 30's It looks like Delta infecting quite a few people plus close to a 90% vaccination status in Ontario takes the credit for the difference in hospitalizations, so if your not vaccinated this is another piece of data that you should consider.

Omicron may be milder, but it is killing people. The death toll in the US has spiked as shown by the Johns Hopkins graphs.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are effectively canceled for our group. Family members tested positive including my husband. Everyone was double jabbed and had the booster. Thankfully, no one is hospitalized and some have been able to get the infusions of the antibodies.

So far, I am in the clear… fingers crossed it stays that way.

10 pound standing rib and a 5 pound beef tenderloin are headed to the freezer.

While we are disappointed, we are thankful, considering the tragedies others have endured with Covid.

Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

Sorry to hear this, and I hope everyone is well again soon.

That's expected considering the cases. The US has seen a steady decrease in hospitalization and death since the beginning of September, and now it's trending upward, but not that much. It'll be interesting to see if the US follows other Countries with minimal death. Considering the US is not the healthiest population it may go a little higher than expected, we'll see.

Hope you and your family will be spared any negative consequences and be better soon

Like a lot of other Countries, our case count is at all time highs in Ontario with hospitalization and deaths going lower. This has been the trend right from the beginning of Omicron.

I have mild symtoms since saturday (muscle cramps, stuffed nose, cough) so I've self tested but it's negative. If symptoms persist I will do another test later this week before I visit my MIL on newyear's eve.
I hope it passes soon, there are so many other viruses circulating again we are all having a fairly unhealthy winter this time round.

Fully vaccinated is now eclipsing the unvaccinated for hospitalizations with 153 to 138 respectively. In ICU it's still the unvaccinated that is higher with 83 and 28 for the vaccinated. People in Hospital with covid has reduced from 510 to 373 today with 1 more in ICU.

Israel have begun their 4th jab.

Local news only talks about infections and cases, typical. Many are amazed how infectious it is, and this was known in early November and was in every news feed around the world then and throughout and yet they are still amazed, yes truly amazing, yes that was sarcasm. :)

Hope you symptoms stay mild and you are better in no time ! 🤗🤗

I drove past a Doc-in-the-Box facility in Frisco today that was doing drive-thru Covid tests. The line of cars went around the building, and into the street, extending about two blocks down the street.
