To be, or not to be. That is the question...But how far do we go before it’s not longer a mince pie?

This goes back at least 100 years ago, as MrsT’s mom said it was her grandmother’s recipe.
No method - none of the recipes in her handwritten notebook have any methods. You were just expected to know what to do with the ingredients.
That just freaks me out that there is actually that much meat in it, or any meat at all, LOL. I mean I know that the jarred stuff has the suet in it, but does it have meat in it too? Here, I dug out my wife’s grandmother’s recipe, just to get you started:

It can still be had here…if you know where to shop for it, so someone’s eating it.Wow a mincemeat recipe that actually contains meat.
Wonder how that would go down today?!
Traditionally, yes, mincemeat had meat in it. Tastes have changed and it’s all but disappeared these days. That just freaks me out that there is actually that much meat in it, or any meat at all, LOL. I mean I know that the jarred stuff has the suet in it, but does it have meat in it too?
I’ve been told it’s available here but I’ve never seen any pre-made ones containing it.It can still be had here…if you know where to shop for it, so someone’s eating it.
Yeah, I figured it did at one time, but last time I ate mincemeat pie (probably 50 years ago or so) it was that jarred stuff and pretty sure there wasn't meat in it...Traditionally, yes, mincemeat had meat in it. Tastes have changed and it’s all but disappeared these days.
Was it just a small sugar factory and some fruits pulverised into submission?!Yeah, I figured it did at one time, but last time I ate mincemeat pie (probably 50 years ago or so) it was that jarred stuff and pretty sure there wasn't meat in it...
Well maybe, I was probably 12 so I couldn't tell you and the person who would know (my mum) isn't around to ask, so...Was it just a small sugar factory and some fruits pulverised into submission?!
The original recipe (well who knows whether it was original or not?) does contain meat. Beef tongue.Wow a mincemeat recipe that actually contains meat.

With Christmas looming I'll definitely be coming to you seasoned experienced cooks for tips and advice. Particuarly when it comes to making my own mincemeat for mince pies. This forum seems a friendly community, I used to be on Snap and Instagram but they're mostly full of trolls. I try and avoid social media. Forums are the best place to be for useful information. Thanks again everyone.
What? No butter? How about a take on fruit & nut? Dark chocolate ganache, raisins/currants/sultanas, apple and almonds...
