Outdoor Kitchen

Yes thankyou. That’s on the list.
Going to try and get the necessary wire first so it can be buried in the concrete where it will have to be raised up at one end (we’re on a slope).
We are lucky at our last place to have outside sockets and a proper bar area, pizza oven the works. Sadly no more. I usually just cook on the veranda here, gas BBQ or I get the gas camping stove out on the table. If I want electricity I have to run an outdoor 25m extension lead from the garage... it's the one we use for the water pump if we use it. It's a pain, which is why I thought about it. I miss those 2 outdoor sockets we had. And the pizza oven, it was fantastic, hand built with a pump... wood burning stove...

I looked at building a wood fired pizza oven, but decided against it.
It's just me, so a bit of overkill and you need to start heating it way in advance. Too much planning
I use an uuni (now ooni) instead.
One day I will go for a fixed proper pizza oven, either made into a termite mound or on a wheelbarrow.
Maybe
Someday

The rental property came with one. There's photos on here somewhere... back at least 7 years mind you!

Pizza Ovens

A very old photo of it before we got the pump working.

If I’m honest I’m not really too keen on the idea of standing in front of a blast furnace with a pizza peel turning pizza for my whole family.

Outdoor kitchen table ordered from Etsy so fingers crossed.
Arriving this Thursday. Went for the 7ft version with a central shelf.
Excited 👏

Someone’s nicely varnished version.

I skipped the free engraving because I honestly couldn’t think of anything I wanted on there! Plus on the 7ft table the engraving is off set and I couldn’t handle that! 😂

It’s pressure treated spruce but I will be giving it a good soak in wood preservative before it goes outside.
Then maybe lacquer it but I’m not in anyway recovered from the prolonged traumas of doing my sons dining table yet.. so maybe not 😂

Good price for a solid object with free delivery.

The pergola/lean to/carport thing arrived this morning, it’s under a tarp outside 👍

The kitchen table preservative was nice and dry so Mr SSOAP used his manliness and some power tools to assemble it 😂
It now needs moving out of the living room, except it can’t because it’s very very heavy, far more than it looks, so it will be staying in here until both the boy’s turn up 🙄😆

Another delay because the person doing the groundwork miscalculated the amount of stone needed by about half so the concrete has been cancelled (again) and concrete as all good people know is quite weather dependant so who knows when it’ll be finished.

When I started on this last year I jokingly said I’d like it finished by the summer but now I can see it taking that long.. 😂

I’m certainly going to be hearing about this mess from Mr SSOAP’s olds!

Heyho there is some progress

Loving food and ingredients like I do meant I couldn’t quite bring myself to ignore the empty ‘Monster Energy’ thrown in amongst the rubble. Knowing a disgusting pink drink tin was entombed in my outdoor kitchen floor forever was too much so I snuck out there when they were having lunch, pulled it out of the rubble and shoved it in the bin!

If I remain diligent I won’t end up with a area built on McDonalds wrappers and cans of fizzy drinks

When my contractors left "lunch rubbish" on the job site I wouldn't authorize payment. REALLY ticked off a job lead or two having to come pick up his teams trash so they could get paid. Scr** y** disrespecting my workspace... 😇

The main guy has not been too bad. They take most of their rubbish with them and I can see you’d think it doesn’t really matter throwing it into a pit that’s going to be concreted over, but I’ll know it’s there, that I’m walking on junk food wrappers and crappy drinks tins so I’ll be doing a visual sweep every now and then until concretes down! 😂

I can’t remember what coin you throw into new builds? I think it’s a penny. If anyone can remember let me know 👍

I can't remember which one it is but it's supposed to be the same year as the build.

Looked it up and over here it’s usually a penny but any coin will do.
Here it apparently it dates back to pagan times and I reckon they probably didn’t have pennies back then 😂

I settled on three coins (🎵in a fountain🎵) but realised one wasn’t a penny it was a cent (euro), went with it anyway just in case it helps us back into the EU’s freedom of movement good books. Gonna be a mighty powerful coin 😂
