Plans for today (2019-2022)

I try not to make plans on my days off unless it's something fun or cooking (which is usually fun). If it involves housework or other kind of work at home, I aim low so I don't disappoint myself or my husband

Yesterday I got ambitious and wiped down tables, chairs, granite countertops, polished the wood cabinets, and cleaned/polished the appliances in the kitchen, then I started some seeds in the window: watercress, basil, arugula, and parsley. The basil and parsley I will transfer into the garden in late May but we can munch on the watercress and arugula as microgreens. I cleaned off the plant table in the front hallway and watered all of my plants (plus moved some of them around to adjust to the seasonal light direction in my windows). Then I vaccuumed the entire downstairs area.

Today I made a doctor appointment checkup I have been putting off, one with an ENT (ears, nose, and throat) specialist to see about my mild case of tinnitus I developed over the past year. I mentioned it to my general practicioner in December and she wrote me a referral, and then the holidays came, then covid, then emergency gall bladder surgery, so finally got around to making the appointment a bit ago.

I woke up to snow today that turned into rain, so I am not going out to work. I am sick of snow, even if it didn't stick. The high here today is 36F/2.2C. Sick of the cold, too.

I might get around to cleaning the restrooms today.

I feel exhausted already just reading this!

Well at least I got my taxes out of the way last week, well before today's deadline. Now that was a major accomplishment!

And I am still sitting at my computer desk...maybe I need a cup of tea to get motivated.

I just have to eFile my taxes and payment. I always do that at the last hour. Gotta' hang onto that money as long as possible.

Oh, besides eFiling my taxes, today is more laundry before I travel on Wednesday (going to Houston, again).

I also plan to smoke some chicken wings tonight. JAS mentioned it, and I haven't done it in a while, so I figured, "Why not?"

We dropped ours off 10 days before the due date, and for the first time ever, he didn’t get them finished and had to file an extension.

MrsT is ticked off, so after 16 years, I think she’s going to find a new tax accountant next year.

My payment didn't clear my bank until today.

The IRS is severely understaffed. Their staffing level today is the same as it was in the 1970s.

They are also using inadequate technology. My ex-SIL was a CPA and auditor for the IRS. Instead of using the IRS software, she audited people's taxes using TurboTax.

Why? so the uber-wealthy and big corporations, with their accountants and tax lawyers, can avoid paying taxes.

Ten days isn't enough time. He's probably working 16 hour days to TRY to get everything done.

One problem is that employers, customers and financial institutions are not getting W2s and 1099s out in time. Those documents are supposed to be sent by the end of January. I was still chasing down 1099s for my parents last week.

Yeah I know, they are using such old
tchnology at the IRS that people under 60 don't know how to use it.

Partially that, though we’ve gotten them to him later than that in the past, and he’s managed it.

The other part is…he really needs to retire, he’s getting up there and he’s slowed down noticeably the last few years.
