Plans for today (2023)

Okies then.

It‘s open season because I have new pans arriving.
A big deal for me.
My current pans are 20+ years old.

That means -

what to cook first on your final pans?!!

I’m thinking beef bourguignon, or perhaps oxtail and beef cheek or maybe a spicy slow cooked lamb?

What would cook first on the pans you hope to hand down?!!

What kind of pans? Stainless? Cast iron?

CD

Some new iron of the orangey variety that I ‘cast’ aside many moons ago for daring to be heavy (idiot I am) and some decent(ish) stainless steel that have done really well but should be left alone now.

I will be keeping my current pans in a familiar place based on them never yet failing me and really not wanting to wanting to share the new ones with silly sons!

If one of them’s a Dutch oven, then it’ll be pork and sauerkraut.

But it is not New Years day, yet. :scratchhead:

Going up, we had that every year. Mom would cook a pork loin roast in Sauerkraut for hours, to guarantee complete shoe leather dryness and texture. And, I could not get up from the table until I ate every bite on my plate.

That’s for all year long around here.

Plans today, walking off the ship in about 30 minutes, meeting a driver/guide, with whom we’ll spend the next seven hours toodling around Rome. It’s actually someone MrsT knows through work.

I don’t know what the tour schedule is, though. I’m just along for the ride.

Rome was my least favorite city in Italy when I was there. The Coliseum was like Stonehenge -- looks amazing in good photos, but underwhelming in person. But, I didn't have a guide with a car, so I was limited on what I could see.

At this point, because the end is so near (flying home day after tomorrow), I’m just ready to go home now.

I have a feeling that you prefer travel in your own car, with you driving, to places familiar to you, like your trips to Eastern PA.

CD

We made it to the car, BTW, but it was a boondoggle. Zipping along the highway now.
