Today is Veterans’ Day, and my usual plan is to go to Denny’s for a “Thank You For Your Service (TYFYS)” free breakfast, then Starbucks for a TYFYS free coffee (which I’m having right now), then Applebee’s or Chili’s for TYFYS free lunch, and by that time, I don’t really need the TYFYS free supper from Olive Garden, because MrsT is usually low-grade angry with me for running around all day getting treated while she’s stuck at home working.
But…it’s a Saturday, and some places observed the day yesterday, including Denny’s, so I missed my free breakfast.
MrsT offered to go out to breakfast at a new place that opened recently, so we did that, and I got a TYFYS free piece of cake from them, unexpectedly.
The rest of my plans seemed intact and back on track, as I checked to make sure Starbucks, et al, were observing the day today, but then…
“What time does ALDI open? I want to check them out!”
“9AM.”
Off to ALDI. After we finished in ALDI, I started the car, it was a little after 10AM, and…
“Do you care, since we’re out, if we stop by Walmart? I want to look at the Christmas stuff!”
“That’s fine.”
“Christmas stuff” also apparently means clothes as well, so she burned a good hour in there, just farting around. It’s now almost noon and I’m just now getting my coffee - I’m about two hours behind, and when I dropped her at the house, she said, “Maybe don’t stop for lunch and we can go to Olive Garden together!”
I really look forward to a day off that’s just me running around on my own, and having the holiday on a weekend really <bleeped> that up!
