I just always found it helpful when a horse gets stiff going in one direction, helps them learn to change their lead legs better. Sorry your hand is still not cooperating, cold weather doesn't help with that kind of stuff either. When I was a massage therapist I used to treat hand and wrist injuries on a regular basis, along with other rehabilitative massage. Do you know anyone in your area who does that kind of stuff? Can be quite helpful in getting range of motion back if the MT knows what they are doing.
She tends to fall in when going to the right - likely because she’s a TB (never raced) and it’s the opposite of the track direction. We’re getting each other figured out, it’ll just take a few weeks.

The physiotherapist I’m seeing right now is a hand specialist - I’ll see if she might recommend someone who could help with massage. She did mention acupuncture might help to loosen up the tendons in the back of my hand, but I haven’t pursued it.

I had Appaloosas, and as you know, they can be different breed "types" since the registered breed is mainly based off markings and a few other coloring characteristics. But anyway, one of my Appaloosas was part thoroughbred and she was a lead "pony" (she was actually 15 hands high so not really a pony, LOL) at a track who also never raced but was used to going in one direction. The lunging helped her a lot.

I found that a lot of times with hand injuries there is scar tissue that needs to be worked with to loosen the adhesions and allow the tendons to move freely. Not always the case but certainly your physio knows what's going on with yours quite well.

My trainer used to break in my standrdbreds lunging from left to right and vise versa. Breaking in is a complex procedure.
