Plans for today (2025)

MrsT is back from her conference today, flying in this evening.

Plans today are to fart around the house, making sure it’s cleaned up, vacuumed, new sheets on the bed, etc. She really doesn’t care about any of that, but I know when I’ve/we’ve been away and come home, I like to step into a freshened house.

Rake the garden area out level since I've tilled it. Somehow I forgot to start my Sugar Baby watermelon seeds so I'm going to get 4 of those in germinating cups.

I had 5 plants last year and they're supposed to be around 8 lb. melons. Mine were bigger and didn't fit in the fridge...

Youngest daughter and her husband are coming over for dinner tonight. He has been pescatarian for nearly 2 years now so I am making a lovely seafood feast, starting out with crab stuffed mushrooms, sesame coated seared tuna steaks with wasabi and soy sauce, and seared octopus tentacles (in rice wine vinegar and soy). The main is seafood chowder with mahi mahi, shrimp, scallop pieces, shallots, diced bell pepper, and asparagus topped with king crab chunks. I may or may not do a light dessert of vanilla yogurt with strawberries and blackberries if we have room for it. I've got the shrimp peeled and that and the scallop pieces are on paper towels in the frige, the tuna coated with sesame seeds, the mahi is thawed, and the octopus tentacles are are almost thawed. Got the seafood shells boiling for stock right now and DH just finished vacuuming. Now I gotta make the stuffed mushrooms and sieve the stock...busy busy! They are coming at around 6:30 I think...early dinner for us but we will be eating in stages, grazing I call it!

Me too! I'll be late but that stuff can make fine omelettes with a white wine sauce for breakfast!
Happy to say there were no leftovers and we managed to have room for dessert. I love having no leftovers!

We had a discussion about politics that did not get too incensed because we were all in agreement about the current sad state of affairs in our country, but it was interesting in that this is the first time I have seen the youngsters so involved and interested in the political climate, which gives promise and hope for the future generations in our country and the well-being of the world.

The water is here today so the first thing is to water the garden. That will take about 1½ hrs.
Then I'm going to watch the 50 overs cricket final between India and NZ, followed by 3 games of rugby.
That should keep me busy till about 6pm.

There was no water yesterday? Do you have it delivered?
