Please help...we need more threads!

I wonder what “wrapped food” refers to? Do they mean things like cellophane-wrapped snack cakes and things like that? What’s so curious about a food’s packaging?
Food that is wrapped in things like wraps, pita, using a flatbread to encase the filling to hold it in.

. . . . . we do still really need new threads.

have you ever experienced a forum where you get your keyboard knocked silly - being scolded for
"We already have a thread on that, you should research before you post!!!!!!!!!!"
If it's the same subject as yesterday then yeah, not time for a new thread unless it's a different aspect. If the existing thread is not active, then I'm happy with a new thread, so typically I look at about 6-12 months with no activity in the thread, so if it's a 2024 date for last post then continue with that thread. The only exception would be asking a specific question regarding a specific recipe.

it's a good theory/practice - I'd look for a utility that auto-locks threads after (admin defined) months.

people do drag up years years years old threads . . .
I see very little value in allowing/fostering a new comment "Oh, that looks good" on a 5 year old thread . . . but that's just me....

The problem is that you can't say don't lock recipe threads to these apps. People need to be able to ask questions on those and they need to be with the recipe.

Where we spot that we usually start a new thread.

Agreed, but sometimes, especially with new members, they don't notice and recipe threads need to be kept open.

not agreed. but that's just me.

new member frequently don't "see" the post dates.
one forum triggers a splash screen:
"This message is four hundred years old, consider starting a new thread."

That wouldn’t work with recipes, though. That’s the problem. Even if a recipe is 10 years old, if someone has a question or comment about that recipe, it needs to be in with the recipe.

Can I start threads relating to techniques (I.e. stewing, BBQing, crock pot, pressure-cooking etc.) or using a food product (I.e. Wraps and Tortillas, Phyllo Dough, Puff Pastry, biscuits, etc.). People would add their dishes to the thread. NOT a contest and no winners or judging. Just a spotlight on something.

I think that’d be fine - it would need to be in the proper subforum, and any actual recipes posted would need to be written up separately, but it should work, I think.

As TR said, they can add their photos of the dishes to the thread, but recipes would need to be kept in their own dedicated thread, similar to the ingredient challenge and a link put in to the recipe if they wished to.
