Oh yeah, and aspirin, which now they advise against giving to children. All 6 of us kids were given aspirin with no ill-effects, thankfully.I remember being given pepto bismol but that's about it.

Oh yes, the Knorr dried soups! We’d be given the chicken noodle soup one if we were ill sometimes! Our go-to has always been a Knorr (or whatever other brand) packet soup. All those grungy dried vegetables just seem to hit the spot. Alternately, mashed potatoed with a bit of cream and cheese.
Of course, a proper pork vindaloo would obviously solve any intestinal problems immediately. flush it out, like.
Vernor's ginger ale. Always Vernor's.Same as some have mentioned - Campbell’s tomato soup and grilled cheese on white bread, or Campbell’s chicken noodle soup and peanut butter on white bread (no jam!).
Mom would always add that ginger ale with the bubbles stirred out was supposed to be good for your stomach, but we never had ginger ale at home. That was the pop of the well-heeled.
Do you have a Michigan connection? My SIL is from Michigan and she’ll flat out murder anyone who offers her Canada Dry, or god forbid…Seagram’s!Vernor's ginger ale. Always Vernor's.

Ah now I never had finger sandwiches when I was ill and certainly never cucumber but that sounds a delightful thing to have when recovering. Also cucumber finger sandwiches, or other finger sandwiches here
