Show us your breakfast (2025)

We have those here, shredded wheat? But they managed to add sugar to some of it to appeal more to kids (and actually some adults who are conditioned to eat sugary cereal).

My issue is with milk. I can do cereal with plant-based milks but I don't eat cereal often enough to use up all the milk before it goes bad, unfortunately.

What I like is that the version in the UK has only one ingredient.

Savory steel cut oats!

That is a perfectly cooked poached egg. But I am being very conservative here as I can't imagine wanting to pair a poached egg with steel cut oats.
Thank you MG for the compliment on the egg. 😊

Mostly people think of oats, at least here, as a butter and sugar thing. I've no problem, obviously, adding salt, pepper, and egg. I knew I'd be going to work and needed protein to stay full so this was a 13 minute IP meal that worked.

I don't have an issue with the oats being savoury at all. It's a question of the texture of the egg and the oats.

Oh. Come to think of it the egg does get eaten pretty much by itself. But then we always heard growing up; "Don't analyze it, eat it.".

I tend to clear the dishes. We even, not in a restaurant, slurp the fresh tomato juice and homemade mayo out of the salad bowl to waste not. 😜

I think the oats are a good vehicle for an egg as they catch a runny yolk.

We used bread for sopping/mopping.

That’s a blues song if I ever heard one:

Imma drag my biscuit
Through your gravy bowl
Said Imma drag my biscuit
Right through your gravy bowl
Soppin’ and a-moppin’s
The only breakfast I know

That was bread at any meal pretty much, but my favorite is toast and runny egg yolk...
