Show us your breakfast (2025)

You’re close to Giant Eagle, right*? Check this out:

So you might be in luck - I got those results after googling Giant Eagle Akron and clicking on one of the stores (Waterloo?).

I like them both, for different reasons, but yeah, they’re different products.

*We go to northern Ohio occasionally and we also go to Pennsylvania once or twice a year…I can never remember which location has Giant Eagle grocery stores and which location has Giant grocery stores.
Pennsylvania (NW) and Ohio both have Giant Eagle, as does NW NY. There are 3 Giant Eagles within 5-10 minutes of my house. Thanks!

I've had both Mexican and Spanish chorizo, and like both.
I've made some fresh myself as well.
Total different beasts.
I just happen to really like dry cured sausages

As for beans on toast. No thanks
I dislike those beans in tomato sauce. I'll leave them out of the full English breakfast as well
I won't say no to a nice bean stew though :)
But then again, I will not eat that stew on toast. Maybe nice crusty bread to the side, but not on toast!
I won't eat spag boll on a roll either.

I love the fresh chorizo (loose and not in casings). I don't love cured sausages, but I want to try the Spanish just so I know.

Extra crispy tater tots with cheese and a fried egg.

I had made a few brioche mini loaves a couple days ago. I have these little 5 inch long loaf pans that I bought a few years back and I finally started using them recently. Today the loaves are not as soft and fresh as they were when baked (of course) so I am making mini French toasts in a buttermilk and vanilla egg mixture.

I made some ranch dressing yesterday. I've been yearning for it for ages.
So right now, I'm noshing down a salad made with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, gouda cheese, cucumber, onions, red peppers, a bit oh fresh chile and loads of ranch dressing!
(And it's my first meal of the day, so it qualifies...)

Is ranch dressing a thing in other countries or did you taste it in the US and like it?

Had it in the States. Love the stuff!
Not sure about the UK; I think I've seen it there, but only the imported Kraft stuff - which is not really very good.
When we lived there in the ‘90’s, there wasn’t any ranch dressing available in the British shops, but we could get it through the American commissary on the air base.

Two things all the local Brits would beg the Americans for…ranch dressing and
Michelob beer!

Hidden Valley ranch is pretty much the best midgrade ranch dressing on the market here (shelf stable). I don't care for Kraft or Wishbone. Marzettis has a good one and I think they have an Asiago peppercorn ranch? I will have to google that to check. I have seen some good ones in the refrigerated case that are a step above (I think Marzettis has one there too). I suppose when you come back to Ohio to visit you will have to stuff some in your suitcase!

Edited to correct spelling of Marzetti's. Also, I went to their website and apparently they discontinued the asiago peppercorn, which was so delicious! I hadn't bought it in quite awhile though. If I had known I would have stocked up on it, but it only has a certain shelf-life and I don't know how long it's been since they stopped making it.
