Do you have any Australorps? I hear (no pun intended) that they are the quietest of all chickens.

We have 2 australorps and they are my noisiest birds. One is a white Australorp and the other the usual black one, Snowdrop and Blackberry respectively.

Snowflake is the large white one in the top photo.

You won't be able to. Those two are almost feral. They hate humans for some reason, Snowflake especially. But if I have treats, they'll come over but stay just out of range. I've got others you'll trip over because they want to get your attention, but not those two.
Blackberry is a bit better and will hand feed if there is a fence between you and her such as the veg plot and its her favourite treat.

Time to go and give them a feed. They love tofu and are like savages when it comes to it. It's white and a great source of protein so it's a winner all round.

That is so true. I've got an obese, untrainable chocolate labrador who will suddenly appear from the end of the garden (50 yards away) when I rustle the bread packet...
