Would have liked to be able to do a laugh and love emoji on this post!My hub smoked a bone-in turkey breast with mesquite a few days ago for dinner. We had mashed potatoes with turkey gravy and a green vegetable that you don't like lol. I sliced most of the meat and froze some but kept a bowl in the frig for this soup.
I simmered the bones in my crockpot Wednesday overnight and took the meat off the bones yesterday. The ingredients were pretty simple: lots of smoked turkey, diced onion, carrots, celery, mushrooms, and 6 cloves of roasted garlic with chicken broth and the leftover turkey gravy, then finished with heavy cream. I made the wild rice on the side and when it was done I added some of the liquid from the soup and butter to it to soak into the grains and I gave it a few minutes on high heat to crisp the bottom (inspired by Barriehie). I used smoked salt in the rice instead of regular salt for an additional layer of smoky flavor. I served the crispy rice on top of the soup instead of putting it in the bottom of the bowl which was a good idea. My arm is a bit sore from patting myself on the back so much afterwards.
I got neither (commercially) but I do smoke saltI've never tried the powder but I keep liquid smoke in my refrigerator and have smoked salt in my cupboard

On Sunday my pizza oven and smoker will be out of the picture for however long it takes to have the work done on the outdoor kitchen so tomoz is my last opportunity to smoke anything for a while! I might have to just have smoked turkey pizza!
This stuff is good just took a minute to figure out how to use it. I dissolve it in hot water, for diffusion, before use.I've never tried the powder but I keep liquid smoke in my refrigerator and have smoked salt in my cupboard.
Yeah I'd never tried it before and now that I have I've asked DH to do some in his smoker. Also want to smoke cheese.I got neither (commercially) but I do smoke salt
Careful you don't melt it!Yeah I'd never tried it before and now that I have I've asked DH to do some in his smoker. Also want to smoke cheese.
Melting CheesesCareful you don't melt it!
Ah well there’s not a lot to show as at the moment all thats left is a pizza oven balanced on a tiny table up against a wall, everything else has been cleared away ready for Sunday.Pics of your current outdoor kitchen please
The cheese I'm assuming. I'd figured we'd use a very low heat. I'll be researching of course.Careful you don't melt it!
That sounds great to me!Ah well there’s not a lot to show as at the moment all thats left is a pizza oven balanced on a tiny table up against a wall, everything else has been cleared away ready for Sunday.
Once the concrete plinth has been layed I’ll and I can get the stuff together I will post some pics
It’s not going to be anything fancy, just a large chunky wooden table, oven, portable hob and some cookware.
I think that’s it anyway, I suspect it will evolve over time.
I smoked salt last summer. I like it so much it’s permanently on the table with the normal salt.I got neither (commercially) but I do smoke salt
I need that.I have a little gadget for cold smoking and different types of wood chips/saw dust

I’d like something like that. My little dabble with smoking had me realise pretty fast it would be better to be able to smoke somethings overnight. Topping up the pellet holder on the Ninja every 40mins or so is a right pita.I have a little gadget for cold smoking and different types of wood chips/saw dust
