The CookingBites Recipe Challenge: Nov 2015-June 2017

Thank you Morning Glory but I don't want this to be a Miss Columbia situation, so I am going to wait and get my official notification before I am embarrassed and find out I am not the winner. In the meantime I have my acceptance speech prepared so I don't end up like Teraji P Henson and have people step on my train and play the music on me. My speech is right here on a piece of paper which I'll pull maybe from my bra (smh) and rattle off before the music starts to play. Sorry Duck, I've waited "20 years" so you might have to suffer for 20 mins with my speech if I am in fact the winner.:giggle:

So @winterybella, you have the title officially, as your icon/avatar/photo has been emblazoned with the Judge's banner. What's the recipe challenge ingredient to be? I'll be intrigued to see what you choose.:D

I've spent the entire night putting together my thank you video without success, so I guess I'll just have to type it out here. Here goes.
:hyper::speechless::hyper::thankyou::thankyou:
I'd like to thank God,
My grandparents and their grandparents
My mom and my dad,'
My brothers and sisters,
Uncles, nephew and nieces,
My dogs who sat with me day in and day out,
Whose steady look said "don't quit and don't give up" whenever I felt like giving up,
My distinguished colleagues who I share this award with Morning Glory, Sat, Classic 33, Cupcakechef and all in the category,
The Plumber,
And last but not least......(Music starts to play but I am unmoved)
The Cooking Bites Academy for creating this platform for people all over the world to learn the Food Art Form (Music gets louder, but you'll have to wait as I have waited more than 4 months for this)
Oh...I almost forgot to thank Steve Harvey ( sorry Steve) and Kanye West for not showing up at this event allowing it to be the success that it has been been.
Finally the judges got it right!!!
:dance::thumbsup::highfive::hug:
The next ingredient is the Cabbage. Nothing more than the humble cabbage as I think it's often overlooked and boring in some ways. I therefore look forward to seeing who can spice it up and make it pretty and exciting. I say we give it a go until about the 26th of January.

You must have read my mind. I was just reading up on cabbage recipes! My family might get a bit p****d off though. They've only just got through the plethora of parsnips... when I tell them its cabbage... well, you can imagine the response.
If you use it as a side dish most of the time they might not get too mad. I made a cole slaw yesterday with the purple one and it sort of helped me to make my mind up. I hope I get a lot of entries. I'll have to start campaigning immediately.

Well its up to the judge of course. Aside from being excellent anagram material, Kohlrabi belongs to the Brassica oleracea species:

Brassica oleracea is the species of plant that includes many common foods as cultivars, including cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, savoy, kohlrabi and kai-lan.
Wiki

So if kohlrabi is allowed I reckon broccoli, kale etc should be. You may have opened another can of worms...

I was going to submit a recipe using Cavolo Nero as I have some in the fridge. It is sometimes called black cabbage but also black kale. Is that allowed?

What about kohlrabi? Does that count as cabbage? The literal translation is 'turnip cabbage' so it's a cabbage, I'd say.
Anything that is considered cabbage.. as wide as we can take it. I am happy to get any and all contributions.
