The CookingBites Recipe Challenge: Nov 2015-June 2017

Given the surprise at the choice of ingredient, "common onion", a bit surprised at how few entries there were.

Ingredient chosen because it's been sidelined by other varities, for fashion purposes in my opinion.

Choice came down to the Onion Ice Cream(SatNavSaysStraightOn) and the Caramelized Onion, Bacon & Spinach Pizza(Winterybella).

Had I still the cold, the Ice Cream would have won. However the pizza gives you something to sink your teeth into. On that basis @winterybella, over to you. I'm getting a pizza!

What have we here? I am laughing silly:giggle:. I graciously accept my title and without further ado I have decided that ZUCCHINI will be the next ingredient. While not nearly as "common" in this neck of the woods, I suspect the Brits have easy access being the main contributors and all.

Deadline is 27th August and please, without canvassing, I am hoping to have as many entries as possible.

OK- that would be 'courgettes' in my neck of the woods. So trendy spiralised zuchini are called 'courgetti' rather than 'zoodles'. In the UK you can by ready-spiralised courgettes in the supermarket https://www.theguardian.com/lifeand...gettes-hero-vegetables-supermarket-sales-soar.

As it happens, I have a spiralizer (a cheap hand-held job) and might be persuaded to use it. But truth be told (unlike most people in the UK, it seems) courgettes are my least favourite vegetable. I find them rather bland and insipid. Perhaps that's why people like them? A bit like 'fish that isn't too fishy' or chicken breasts which taste of nothing much.

End of rant! :D My quest is now to make courgettes sing with flavour... and I do love a challenge.

So it's that time again where I pass on the reigns to some other worthy participants. Thank you all the ever loyal "soldiers" @SatNavSaysStraightOn, @classic33, @Caribbean girl and @morning glory. I really think it is a four way tie but since that is not allowed I have to choose a single winner and so I declare @SatNavSaysStraightOn, the winner with her 18 year old recipe of https://www.cookingbites.com/threads/creamy-courgette-soup.7573/. Can't get the smoothie and the Tangle out of my head but this time around there can only be one winner.
