After much deliberation and many failures at it over the years, I have decided that the winner of the competition is
Congratulations. we need from you the next ingredient, a closing date and time and a lot of patience. also if you choose a non-vegetarian/vegan ingredient can you please list acceptable substitutes so all can enter!

A list of previous ingredients can be found in the very first post, though there is absolutely no issue of there are repeats.

Thank you!!

This is completely unseasonal.
I challenge you to post a recipe that uses Marmite, not necessarily as the main ingredient but as a significant ingredient. Marmite is a brand name for a concentrated yeast extract and I expect there are other brands around the world? It is one of those love it or hate it flavours. I am in the 'I love it' camp but I haven't been that adventurous with it. Probably because I am the only one in my house who eats it. Both of my children were happy Marmite babies, (Marmite soldiers mainly) but as soon as they were old enough to choose their own toppings they stopped eating it.

So really, I'm looking for more ideas of what else to eat it with.

If you are happy with the challenge,(I have another idea if necessary) then as suggested, the closing date is 9th January.

Marmite is an interesting choice. I love it and use it a lot in cooking! The only problem is that it (and its equivalents) are not available in most of the world (except for UK, SA, Australia, NZ and some Malaysian countries). I think it is possible to get it in America but its probably very expensive if it can be found at all and many Americans won't have even heard of it. I wondered if the challenge could be extended to include Bovril (or its equivalents) - but my research shows that it is also not available in the US! Nor can I find anything similar available in the USA.

I am racking my brains trying to think of how to suggest equivalents! What do you think, @SatNavSaysStraightOn?

Marmite is obtainable here although not on the local shelves. I think Vegemite may be more common given that we are close to Australia. Bovril is available here, although rare.
