I often use them in place of peas for texture. Different effect but still good.
Edamame was very popular here as a bar snack several years ago, but then faded away. It's a long time since I had them.
As bar snacks, with a sprinkling of salt.
I liked them
"The best laid plans............aft gang awry" they say in some quarters. The main purpose of the stir fry was to showcase fried tofu. I haven't mastered my new deep fryer yet and the results of the frying ended in a product that I viewed with restrained enthusiasm. So I didn't have them for the dish I had worked up. I do intend to go at it again and I did post today's dinner here without the fried tofu and without being a contribution to the challenge. You have my apologies for "ganging awry."
It happens! And I think it's great that you are cooking tofu in the first place. So many people have a prejudiced view of it."The best laid plans............aft gang awry" they say in some quarters. Thanks. I appreciate that....and you have my congratulations for trying something new! Wasn't it Einstein that said "if you've never made a mistake, then you've never tried anything"?
I did season it and coat it with bread crumbs. You are correct. Deep frying is not the way to go. I planned to get more tofu tomorrow and air fry it but I'll follow your lead. You haven't lead me astray yet.It happens! And I think it's great that you are cooking tofu in the first place. So many people have a prejudiced view of it.
Personally I wouldn't deep fry tofu (if that is what you were doing). It crisps up very well in an almost oil free pan. But maybe you coated it in batter something? In which case deep frying would make sense.
silken tofu doesn't fry well. It's what I use when I want a creamy soup, rather than a stir-fry."The best laid plans............aft gang awry" they say in some quarters.
