It passed right over the house, but really wasn’t much more than a very strong, circular wind and heavy rain.

3:58PM, no wind, light rain. 3:59PM, strong wind, heavy rain, and power flashed a few times, 4PM, no wind, light rain. 4:01PM, sun out, no wind or rain.

What is Ripple? Only sort I know is raspberry ripple ice-cream...

Ripple falls into a class of alcoholic beverages called "flavored fortified wines." The are cheap wines, usually with higher ABV levels, often purchased by poorer people and teenagers looking for a cheap buzz. They tend to be overly sweet, too, which appeals to teens, especially the girls.

When I was in High School, the drink of choice was Southern Comfort and OJ.
To this day, I have a hard time drinking orange juice :giggle:
Presumably that doesn't apply to Southern Comfort?

(Never tried it though not heard great things about it. )

These were popular in my early 20’s

A Long Slow Comfortable Screw Against the Wall
Southern Comfort, Vodka, Sloe Gin & Galliano stirred with ice & orange juice.

Yes, all the cocktails had filthy names in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Southern was my deceased brother in laws favourite tipple though he generally drank it with coke.
There’s a bit of a tradition in the family of stocking up your home bar with the newly deceased favourite & having a couple in their memory when you get home from the funeral.
I wonder if it’s because with drink driving laws the wakes are pretty sedate?

At any rate I like my Southern Comfort straight up or on the rocks.

This reminds me of something we have in Jamaica:

Basically the same category of cheap fortified wine. In addition to being popular with people in the lower economic bracket, it is sometimes used in cooking or baking to great effect because it is sweeter than normal wine.

I have never liked the taste of Southern Comfort.

I think it tastes like cough syrup.

When we first put in the bar in the house, I went out and bought all the usual bottles (vodka, bourbon, gin, etc), and a bunch that were well-known, but more…specialized, maybe?…and one of those was Southern Comfort. I figured I needed to cater to all tastes, and SC is reasonably popular around here, I thought, though I don’t care for it.

Couldn’t get anyone to drink it, including our seriously alcoholic neighbor. After a couple of years, I tossed it.

Agreed! I guess the OJ made it drinkable, at least at the time.
Now, I only drink, wine, beer and the occasional margarita. Oh, OH! The best and I mean Margarita I've ever had was in Key West, where? You guessed it, Margaritaville. It kicked my butt! AND you can walk around town with a drink in your hand!!!

So I've finally seen the pain specialist today, and she was very impressed that I managed to go off tramadol on my own for a full month before seeing her today. I've learned the following things:

1) My pain caused by my frontal hernia is definitely not imaginary, and I have to be careful with excercise to make sure it does not get worse. Swimming was recommended for me, and days visiting a festival etc should unfortunately take place in a wheelchair to make sure I don't overstretch my abdomen because that can be dangerous.
2) Unfortunately, beside opioids there's no cure for my pain unless I want to undergo a surgery which has an 80% chance of re creating the problem on another spot on my abdomen. So no thanks.
3) The constant muscle spasms and pain I'm currently having is caused by quitting tramadol cold turkey of my own initiative after taking it for three full years, and it will pass. It might take a few months though.

If I keep having muscle cramps and pain after three months, I can return for further evaluation because there's some uncertainty with doctors whether my pain is caused by opioid withdrawal or rheumathoid arthtritis.
