Our first Tornado Sirens of 2022. Tornado Warning. Watching the radar on the news. Wish me luck. See ya!

Hope it settles down for you.

I'm glued to the news. The path of the rotation is South of me right now. If it keeps to that path, I should be fine as far as a tornado goes. It has not touched ground, at least according to spotters. But, the rotation aloft is getting stronger.

I have my safe-room ready, and a flashlight in my pocket (no, I'm not just happy to see you).

Springtime in North Texas.

Okay, the rotation was getting stronger, then it suddenly collapsed. All clear. Just heavy rain, wind and some small hail at my house.

There were multiple tornados West of DFW, but I don't know how bad they were.

Air travelers will not be happy. Both airports closed down for the storms.

The toughest part of this for me is watching a man who once ran a Fortune 500 company get to a point where he doesn't manage the basic things in his personal life anymore. I can handle his body giving out on him a lot better than his mind slipping away.
I have the same or similar feeling with my dad. His dementia has completely changed his personality, and where he used to be very quiet, and had a real “suck it up, buttercup,” attitude when it came to any problems, now the least little things upset him tremendously, and it’s not unusual for him to start sobbing for what appears to be no reason to the rest of us.

That, and his short-term memory is completely shot. He truly can’t remember from one moment to the next.

Best wishes for your dad. It’s hard to go through all around.

The classic Texas wine bottle, doesn't get any better than that. Cheers.

That was actually a reference to Fred Sanford from the TV show Sanford and Son. Fred's favorite drink was Ripple. I don't recall ever seeing it in Texas. Here, the cheap stuff was always Boone's Farm or Thunderbird.

Ones of my chicks is a rare colour of a common breed. Yesterday the lady I purchased the eggs off contacted me to ask if any of the chicks turned out to be a cockrel, could she buy it back off me please, so that chick has a reprieve. If it's a girl I get to keep it. If it's a boy, she gets to keep it.
Her breeding rooster died at the weekend.

I love Sanford and Son and frequently watch reruns. It’s one of my earlier childhood memories, going to my aunt’s and uncle’s house with my mom and dad, and we all sat around watching Fred and LaMont (and Aunt Esther…and Rollo…and Grady…).

Fred used to class up his ripple with some champagne, which he called
champipple
!

IIRC, Fred had several clever Ripple concoctions with equally clever names.

Just looked it up...

Flatipple sangria & Ripple

Champipple: Champagne & Ripple. Or, Ginger Ale & Ripple.

Manischipple: Manischewitz & Ripple.

Beaujolipple: Beaujolais & Ripple.

Cripple: Cream & Ripple.

Stripple: Straight Ripple.

Flapple: Flat Ripple. Or, Sangria.

Muscatipple: Muscatel & Ripple.
