Why are family such hard work?

Just been asked to partake in a group birthday present for my step father....

We've already made agreements but I don't mind a little extra. But for whatever reason they haven't actually spoken to the company about the present they wanted to buy. My stepfather is going to be 80. He's overweight, he's diabetic, he's disabled (hip issues and mobility issues as a result) and he has heart problems relating to high blood pressure. No prizes for guessing what they wanted to buy him as a present... a flight in an aircraft side by side with a Spitfire. Now the company don't have an upper age limit, but do for weight which i really suspect he is either at or over. There is also the very likely scenario that the company would insist he had a medical in order to be allowed to fly. I know commercial airlines don't, but they seem to have forgotten that this isn't a commercial airline etc.... apparently I'm spoiling it.

Very cold and windy day here today. It's now 9°C and dropping fast. Cold with no heating, the wind chill making it colder. Aussie roof spaces are ventilated so when it's windy, the house is colder than usual, not helped by the fact the windows don't fit very well either.

Reckon it will be around 6°C in the morning. For the first day of April, that's a cold start.

My chicks have their heater back on . it's too cold for 5-6 week old chicks to be without heat.

Very warm yesterday, but windy. Storms came through overnight, and we lost power for about four hours, and today, it’s windy, raining, and much cooler.

Same, rain and hailstones here and even snow in the east of the country! (we're in the west). It's supposed to be snowing everywhere, but no such luck here yet.
