As much as anything, I just wish you could get some sleep. I have problems sleeping and I know how that just makes everything else that much worse.

I so much agree with that. I need 8 hours and I'm literally a different (nice, understanding, forgiving, even jolly) person if I get that. Lately I've been waking at 5.30 am-ish and can't get back to sleep. Since I don't go to bed until 12.30 or 1.30 am that is not good!

Bad day today. I woke in the night to a very numb right hand (from wrist down except the lithe finger) and it hasn't cleared completely at all during the day. Until now it usually cleared after an hour or two but not today. More worrying is the fact that the trapped nerve roots that have been identified are all in the left side which means it should be the left side that is affected (it is as night) and that basically means they don't have a diagnosis for the issues in the right side at present which scares me.

I've not driven today because of the symptoms not clearing.

I don't want to go to sleep in case it gets worse, knowing it is going to during the night, as it has done every night just recently. The only question that remains is how much of the pins&needles and numbness will go in the morning and how much will stay. I'm starting to have difficulties knitting with small needles now, so socks are taking much longer. I'm currently knitting a shawl as well but it's a mystery knit with clues released weekly (Thursday evening here, they're based in the US,) but I've already competed this week's clue because it rained all day Friday...

Hoping tomorrow will be a better day.

I often wake up with a numb appendage from sleeping on an arm in a bad position. In my case, I move it around to get blood flowing, and it goes away pretty quickly. It goes from numb, to pins and needles, and then to normal within ten to fifteen minutes.

CD

Sadly this isn't from sleeping in a bad position and isn't clearing. The left hand side going numb is from 2 trapped nerve roots at C6 & C7 in my neck, from severe OA. And they are only going to get worse. Nothing showed up on the CT Scan to indicate why it is happening in the right hand side though. This is a case of if I don't get surgery, I'll loose the use of both arms and a few other bits like being able to regulate my body temperature and such. And at the speed it is deteriorating, by the New Year, it could be gone for good.

My legs both go numb if I lie on my back without anything under my knees. That clears the instant I move position, again indication of nerve root problems not blood supply, but it isn't as problematic as the neck issues. The neck issues are not clearing when I move and I now have permanent tingling in my hands and fingers (except the little finger, which is classic C6 & C7 nerve root issues, the little finger is C8)...

I'm so sorry dear, I hope they can help you fast enough. Do you have any insight on that? I know the surgery is awful, I really feel for you. I'm really crossing my fingers that they'll be in time with helping you so it doesn't get to that place. You're in my thoughts. I'm very sorry I can't be of more use. I hope you have support at home

I always wake up around 5.ish, no matter what time I go to bed. It's called reverse insomnia, some people wake up too early in the morning because it's a lighter sleep cycle. I usually go to bed early to get at least 8 hours, but during the winter I am still groggy because I wake up in the dark. I hate it but it's been like this for the past 20 years.

Aside from that I haven't had one night of restful sleep since february this year, because the reuma makes turning around and moving in general a painful affair. If I sleep I still wake up every time I have to turn because my legs have turned into painful logs and my hips and shoulders are locked in position. It's been wrecking me pretty much because I'm in pain every day too and barely get to recover at night. I hope there will soon be a treatment available for me.

I see my consultant first thing on his next visit to Canberra. I've still got to get an MRI done (special one because I have medical metal and a Neurostimulator in me).

I'm hoping he'll consider it bad enough to schedule surgery at that point because it will take several months of waiting for a normal appointment to happen and consultants tend not to operate during January on Australia... the last thing I need is for him to say wait another 6 months but it does have to be bad to outweigh the risks associated with the surgery. The kind of risks that they ago you have an advanced care directive in place and have sorted all of your affairs and have made a will...

I got a new Pacsafe bag for this trip as well. I wore out my last one:

If you’re not familiar with them, they’re designed to thwart (or at least slow down) thieves. The zippers lock or are otherwise secured, the shoulder strap fastener locks, it has an RFID pocket, and the shoulder strap and bag body are steel line/mesh reinforced, to stand up to a slashing attempt.

The only thing I don’t like is that it’s made out of recycled stuff, so the material is like a plastic/nylon substance - looks like 💩 and every time I try and pick it up, it’s slick and it slips out of my hand!

I also am not crazy about the color, but that color was on clearance (Clarence  ✈️), so I got it at a deep discount.

Well, today is the big day. We're going to find out what's up with my lungs, which is step 1. I've had normal photo's taken, radiology photo's, a regular scan, a radiology scan, a 3d scan, and a spirography today. So we should know what the damage is. Fingers crossed it's reversible.
