Best wishes to everyone who’s facing health issues.

Mine are minor in comparison so it feels silly to gripe, but I had a follow-up for my broken ankle and got moved out of the boot and into a cast. Because of the way they had to set the bone, I can’t bear any weight in the cast and I’ll be like this for another 7 weeks.

Then after that, I’ll transition to a boot for an additional 6 weeks. A simple bad step while out for an evening walk has put me out of commission until Christmas.
It's not a competition, this sounds painful! hope it will heal properly

Absolutely stunning. Luxuriate and enjoy evert minute!
I’m already a little creeped out, because I went down to reception to arrange breakfast in the room tomorrow, and without me saying a word, as soon as I walked in, the entirely different reception agent said, “Good evening Mr. Tasty. I hope you are finding things satisfactory. How may I help you?”

Help me?! I’ve never even seen you before, and you know my name?! Get outta my head!”

I told MrsT and she said they routinely make little notes about the occupants of the premium rooms so they can do that and impress. I’m sure the note next to our names said, “Does not belong here. Be nice anyway.”

Hang on TastyReuben you said that you're NOT going to cook in this gorgeous joint? You're in France with some of the best product you could probably get your hands on and you're NOT going to cook?
This is a life long dream to go to France, Italy, Greece, ya know the lot and have a kitchen and markets within walking distance ...

I have a hard and fast rule that since I cook every other day of the year, vacation for me is a break from cooking.

I’ve cooked on vacation twice in the last 32 years, and that’s because we rented a place with an AGA, and I’d never used one, and the house came with the fixings for breakfast, so I made that…and a frozen pizza.

Besides, we’re here just two nights, and we didn’t get here until yesterday afternoon, we’ve got about 2/3rds of the day filled today, and then we’re leaving tomorrow morning, so not much time…unless I find a shop that has a frozen pizza. 🤔

We didn't have much options to have a holiday this year, but we just booked a luxury suite for our 4th wedding anniversary on nov 13th. It has a private Finnish sauna, bubble bath and luxury facilities so we decided to go for it. We'll also have dinner and breakfast there, to make it physically possible for me. It's like a private luxury spa day, which sounds wonderful.

Hubby came home with flowers yesterday

In true hubby style, they still had the price tag so that 'I know how much he loves me'! Lol.

Jeee-sus! That´s a brilliant view! Never mind the architecture, get the location!! Tower Bridge, the Shard, just across the river from the Bermondsey mile, close to Borough Market...fabulous!

Hotel architecture is post-Stalin Soviet-inspired:

…but the view ain’t half-bad:

The Guoman? It a bit of an eyesore isn't it?
I do like the St Katherine Dock area...the Dickens Inn around the corner is quite nice for a drink, and if I recall the food wasn't bad either - though we only had a sandwiches.

That’s being kind. When I was first looking at it on Google Street View, I kept asking my wife where the hotel was, “Is it behind this prison?”

Actually, it looks like the Hamilton County jail back home:

The hotel itself has seen much better days, and I think it’s destined for a rehab soon - they’re starting work on the main entrance right now.

I like that sort of dated former glory look, though - there are weird things in the room that harken back to late-70’s-early-80’s glamour, but now look woefully kitschy, like this:

That top switch is in the room, and the little notice lights up just outside the room. Cool!

…and a volume knob in the bathroom that probably hasn’t connected to anything for years:
