That's where I tried to start the new thread. It gave me a place for the header, or subject, a place for the body of the thread, but no post button. So I jsut replied on this thread. My whole post could be copied and pasted into its own thread by someone who knows this site better than me.

Seeeeeeeya; Chief Longwind.
There'll have been a "create thread button" at the bottom of the box. That's the one to use.

I moved your post to 'Cooking for Children' which is the most recent thread touching on this topic.

Oh well, time for sleep. Up for the count tomorrow morning............

Those that are familiar with John Lewis know that it has a good reputation for retail. I expected staff to be better informed than my experience today. I had to return an enamel baking sheet because, although I loved that it was enamel (there is a worrying excess of non stick cookware these days), it had what I considered a design fault that I didn't spot until I got home. There are 2 drainage holes (?) at one end of the sheet (slightly concealed by a small curved lipped edge). I baked some oven chips on it and, of course, the excess oil (minimal) leaked down below!

Anyway I was there to find a replacement...no luck. I mentioned non stick and PFOA to an elderly staff member and she thought it meant eco friendly!

She was clueless of the associated toxic chemicals.

Depending on her age, she probably was clueless.
I know I would be if you said that to me.
Now did you find a good pan?

I guess not enough people know about the link with non stick ovenware and PFOAs - I thought it was common knowledge now!

I was after a baking sheet but, no, couldn't find one that wasn't non stick. I do have a metal baking sheet past its best....I think I will have to try and work on it, i.e. soak overnight and try and bring it back to its former state if poss (can't use a scourer on it and a nylon scourer isn't effective on its present state). Oh well - a tiny problem compared to my current situation of my sister trying to sell the flat where I am living that mum (in her will) has said I can stay in for as long as I want to! Don't get me started.....

I use parchment paper or silicone baking sheets on my metal baking sheets. I never use the sheets naked.

I don't think I'm brave enough to turn on the news when I get up in the morning but I know I won't be able to avoid the results!
It isn't the results but the interminable and seemingly never ending discussions that are used to drag out what [by then] will be old news I dread. Either way as the 'manifesto' is not a binding document whoever wins will do whatever they choose and conveniently forget about any 'inconvenient' promises they may have made. Remember =- make your MPs work for a living - don't re-elect them

I'm dreading it. Lets bring back fox hunting shall we and ditch the ban on the ivory trade?
I'm hoping 'the many' will win!

Not the foregone conclusion that it was when Theresa Mayday announced having an election!

Re. ivory trade - a terrorist spokesman said that it was linked to funding terrorism.

We have returned from the theatre, we saw Mrs Robinson, it was good and it was also the first time I have seen bare breasts on the stage.
