My wife and her mate are going to Bangkok on Friday (overnight bus there and back - saves on hotels) to show respect for the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej who died last year.

They were out shopping on Monday to buy suitable clothes (black) for the visit. They look like a couple of Salem Witches!

I have 3 sets of clothes - house clothes (indoor casual wear), outdoor clothes AND co-starring a section of clothes that no longer fit me!

Yes - I have fat, medium and thin clothes. At the moment I'm between thin and medium. I ought to get rid of the fat section as having it there implies I think I will get fat again.

I would like to be in that dilemma! Thereagain you achieved your current state through what, to me, would be too much of a compromise! Not indulging in the meals you make would be unthinkable to me.

Denims however are a problem. Made to measure does not work. The only denims that I "know" fit me are Wrangler regular cut. I can ask folks in UK to buy these for me and ship them here (or preferably hand carry). However, I asked an Irish guy some years ago if he could bring some from New York - "Wrangler regular fit - nothing else". The guy in the shop told him that Levis were the same so he brought those. They didn't fit!
I can't wear anything Levis. I tried some on the other day. Even in my size and one size larger. They were all too small.

Up until earlier this year we had a very nice Gentleman's Outfitters. The sort where you go in and they can tell within an inch or so what will fit. Sadly they have now closed, but I did buy some shirts and bow ties first. We now have nowhere you can buy good menswear.

I would like to pay my gas bill. Why won't it let me see my gas bill?
They read the meter today.

Does anyone want a general chat thread?

I'm thinking similar to the Tea or Mundane News thread over on the sister site CC for those of us from there... Would it help to build a community here?

Thoughts?

I thought this was the forum for general chats and discussions that are not about cooking. I tried to post a thread, but could not find the field to click on to post the thread, only a set of fields to crate a survey. I know there is a way to post on this forum, but I must not be firing on all cylinders right now. ;_)

I don't know where you are in the UK, but here in Maidstone there is an 'alterations' shop which is run by an Asian guy. He also does bespoke tailoring which is, I'm sure, how he was trained and he will make made to measure clothes. Not expensive, given the service. It might be worth checking out if there are similar shops where you live.

General chat is a thread so you can't post a thread here. To start a new thread go to The CookingBites Cafe and click on 'post new thread'. Enter a thread title and then type in your post. PM me if you need further advice. :)

That's where I tried to start the new thread. It gave me a place for the header, or subject, a place for the body of the thread, but no post button. So I jsut replied on this thread. My whole post could be copied and pasted into its own thread by someone who knows this site better than me.

Seeeeeeeya; Chief Longwind.
