...I find vulgarity offensive and unnecessary. 0 tolerance.
One of hubby's high school English teachers told the class that there are 60,000 (or whatever the number was in the early 1960s) words in the English language and that there is no excuse to use a vulgar one unless you are stupid or have no imagination. If I have heard him utter 10 low-grade swear words in our almost 43 years of marriage, I'd be surprised.

I used to be like that - but now he has retired he is around all day! I keep suggesting that he needs to take up a hobby...
With hubby going out to do his astronomy every clear Friday and Saturday, I've come to ask him if I'm getting rid of him for the night. Then I correct myself and say "I mean will you have a chance to do your fun star viewing thing?". At least he disappears into our basement to do woodworking projects on occasion.

Must admit having stood on an upside down electrical plug in bare feet the temptation is VERY strong
As for spending time apart from a partner - beware - you never know what the future holds, all our retirement plans were shattered by my wife's sudden spinal 'injury' [that she survived the operation was a mixture of luck and surgeon's skill] Love now, be together while you can, do things together while you can - there may be plenty of time for 'me' time later

Well I do know that the expression is to indicate that that person sees more than others, but I know I do see much more detail and remember it than many other people. What I'm uncertain of is whether that is what you are referring to. I would actually hate to observe and recall observing any more than I already do. I'm regarded by most who know me as seeing and hearing too much as it is! A rose tint to my glasses (proven I believe to aid in seeing more) would just be too much!

Thank you. Though I'm not a night out person.
Not for yourself, for your chickens. They cut down on the colour of blood.

I'm afraid I swear like a trooper - I always have although not when I was at work except with colleagues who were 'friends' and not on the Forum, of course. I think in the UK it is slightly more acceptable than in some other countries (depending on which words). The F word isn't seen as bad as all that in some circles. I don't use swear words to abuse other people - just as adjectives sometimes but I never use racist or sexist swear words.

Does anyone else here ever stay up after the people they live with go to bed? I just realised I love that feeling - everyone else is safely tucked up (I hope) - that includes the dog. Now I can do me time.

I am usually the first to go up, husband follows behind but he sometimes stays late.

Our colleague finished today, all 3 directors were in and all gave a lovely heartfelt speech. He is a lovely guy happy, smiling apparently never taken a day off sick! Lots of hand shakes and 2 of us ladies in the office had hugs and kisses. He is having a couple if weeks to settle then off to India for a good few weeks then when he gets back decide what he wants to do with the rest of his life. I wonder if he went home this evening and cracked open a beer-I would

Yes, unfortunately I don't have much time, I started knitting a dog last year, still isn't finished :(
A dog? I'm just finishing up a pair of socks... 1cm of for and then the toe to do and I'm done on that pair. Then I need to spin the wool for my next project which is another jumper for me. No one else is interested in my knitting except for my father in law who has requested a pair of size 9 socks. I think he made the request as a joke, but I'm going to make him a pair anyhow. A friend is spinning up the wool for me because I can't find anything I like that would be suitable. We'll have dye it using Eucalyptus bark making them something different and distinctly Australian.

My little bundle of hormones, aka an araucana bantam cross, stayed on the nest last night. We've lost the battle. She's gone broody... It will be her first brood. It early in the season as well. And there was me thinking I finally had no chicks to look after!

@Elawin

I am the eldest of 7 children. When Mother got angry or flustered she would name all of us before she got to the name she wanted. Watch out. Mother is very calm, kind and soft spoken. When she got angry we headed for the woods.....

In our wildest dreams we never, ever considered talking back to our parents or teachers or any adult. That was a serious offence. As in you do not leave your room for a week except for school and meals.....

Parents do have an enormous amount of influence on the development of their children. Good or bad. I think PC is garbage.

I was the youngest of 4 children, and very much younger than my siblings. None of us argued with Mum; we wouldn't dare, not even Dad. I can only remember my Dad "winning" one argument with my Mum, and that was when she insisted on sending to me to school even though I had what seemed like an awful cough and cold. My Dad went and got the doctor (we didn't have a phone in those days), who confirmed that I had pneumonia. That was the one of the few times I was ever off school ill. If I wasn't covered in spots, then I was shoved out of the door.

My Mum had a lot of influence on me with regard to the way I was brought up. I brought up my daughter in the same way, and she brought up her children exactly the same. I hope my grandchildren do the same when they have children. And yes, PC is rubbish. A smack on the arms or legs never did us any harm, although I do not condone hitting children.
