I remember when we had jobs offshore the lads on night shift always moaned that they worked an extra hour when the clocks went back in March. I would promise them that I would not dock them 1 hour in October when they went forward again.

[Edit: I think that I got that the wrong way around]

IDK when, where or why it started. I think it is absolutely stupid. There are X number of hours of daylight in any given day. It is all a bunch of political hog wash. Like sheep we follow the stupid ram.

Time has a biological rhythm. My cats are smarter than the political idiots. They get fed every 12 hours - 6 a.m and 6 p.m. They have no respect for manufactured time. They follow and respect Mother Nature's time. Spring, summer, fall or winter. THEY are smart enough to know Nature's time.

I have heard it all. When you get right down to the bottom line there is no excuse for messing around with time. I does not mater what you call it or how you time it day light is daylight and night is night. :hyper::devil:

There is always someone (Politician) with an agenda = $$$$ changing hands. They can all get #$%^&#$.

OK - sorry. My rant for the -----week, month. Depends on when another topic of political stupidity comes up.

It all comes down to golf!

British Summer Time was first established by the Summer Time Act 1916, after a campaign by builder William Willett. His original proposal was to move the clocks forward by 80 minutes, in 20-minute weekly steps on Sundays in April and by the reverse procedure in September. In 1916, BST began on 21 May and ended on 1 October.

The Germans beat him to actually doing it. And Willet never lived to see it implemented, he died in early 1915.

The current arrangement is now defined by the Summer Time Order 2002 which defines BST as "... the period beginning at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of the last Sunday in March and ending at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of the last Sunday in October." This period was stipulated by a directive (2000/84/EC) of the European Parliament which required European countries to implement a common summer time (as originally introduced in 1997, in Directive 97/44/EC).

Yesterday afternoon my right sinus decided to play up, so by the time we had gone to the pub for comedy night my sinus was full, throat sore and a headache, lousy nights sleep, throat is still sore but now my sinus is running, first thing this morning my face felt like it had been stamped on. Feel lousy and am missing out on a lovely sunny day. It will all be over by tomorrow.

I thought "daylight savings time" was a U.S. bit of stupidity

Day light saving happens here in Australia as well... So we have a huge number of time zones and abbreviations... AEDT and AEST are the two that apply to me. But we changed over at the beginning of October from standard time to daylight saving time... It makes keeping up with home rather difficult. Through our winter they were only 9 hours being us. Then for a period of 3 weeks (in the Autumn it was only 1 week) they were 10 hours behind and now they are back to being 11 boots bhours behind us until next March...

Stick with UTC!

Last night I slept 20:00 until 01:00 and then 04:00 until 05:30 (when the Dennis cat woke me).

I'm getting too old for this.
