Has anyone noticed the increasing tendency for manufacturers to stick the labels on upside down?

Well that was an interesting day ...

Long version
So far this month we have had a grand total of 3.4mm of rain. The average for February in Canberra is 58.4mm so when the storm arrived last night at 9pm we celebrated. It was 35C, desperately humid and not pleasant.

When I got up this morning I was happy because it was not raining and we'd had 8.4 mm of rainfall overnight. A long way short of the monthly average but at almost three times what we'd had so far it was a good start.

Not wanting to disturb my parents who were in our bed, or wake my hubby who was in the spare room with me (when my back allowed me sleep that is) I went out and raked up debris in the garden and cleaned the chook enclosure out, after feeding our rather much larger flock.

Then I went and sat on the veranda and had breakfast out there when hubby woke up. Cue the rain.

By the time we'd finished half of breakfast we had already realised we needed to deal with the flooding that was taking place. Waterproofs on and spades in hand we went out. It didn't take long to give up trying to remain dry. The chooks were flooded and we needed to get them dry, redig the moat, divert so water around the house, dig drainage channels etc.

70.6mm of rain fell in less than 1-2 hrs. The land is bone dry and what thin soil we have is on top of rock, bed rock...

Parts of our dirt road have been washed away, other parts are a quagmire of very soft sinking silt (same as sinking sand only derived from silt!) which had no grip, no direct and is genuinely worse than black ice to drive on. The creek broke is banks at 10m deep (!), our bottom paddock flooded... In fact the only thing that was unaffected was the single track wooden bridge on our dirt road. My parents are in a 2 wheel drive hire car. Their car is still here. I ended up driving them back to their airbnb after checking the road was passible (it was just with care, utmost care in a 4x4... And nothing was going to prevent me sleeping in my own bed tonight). Tomorrow I now get to drive hubby to work, then pick up my parents and bring them back here for them to.... If of course we don't get too much more rain overnight. It's raining again.

Short version

More than a month's average rainfall fell in 1-2 hours this morning.
My parents were here at the time.
It's raining again.

Isn't that because it a squeezy bottle that you store upside down? - Oh, I just saw @ElizabethB said the same!

I suppose that it's the same logic used to write ambulance backwards on the front of said vehicles. Anyone who doesn't recognise an ambulance with all the yellow and green chevrons and flashing blue/red lights probably can't read anyway.

It is only February and already I am on my second cold of the year. I hate taking time off work but today I just cannot face going in.

Must be honest I get a little tired of the news/weather forecasters prophesying almost end of days scenarios and hysterical predictions of "terrible" weather then telling us we may get 'up to' six ins of snow and freezing temperatures and even worse [!!!] freezing rain - for several days. I mean come on people it's only a few weeks since midwinter. Within living memory we've had ten times this amount of snow and the world carried on. Do I like the cold and snow - no but it IS winter. What I hate is the fact that in summer we just get warmer rain [sometimes we get a 'drought' - end of days again [!!] that might last a week. Ho Hum

The weather presenters do like to get excited about bad weather it's not like we normally get it at this time of year

My Honey Bear gave me a lovely birthday gift. I love Armani fragrances for women. My favorite is Diamond. It is no longer available in stores. G was with me when I purchased a bottle of Armani Si. I asked the sales person about Diamond. She recommended a source. George actually paid attention and found a bottle of Diamond for me. A lovely surprise. He can be such a sweet heart. that man.

@ElizabethB Is it your b-day? Today?
Armani fragrances are fantastic! Time ago I used Acqua di Gioia..then I've turned for Narciso Rodriguez and Chanel Gabrielle..but Armani is always Armani, King George, Re Giorgio.
Your husband is very sweet!
