That's not certain. Adolescent boys do stuff like this all the time. They get the crap scared out of them, and they don't do it again.

Hey, I love the thrill of a good bonfire, but but my camping buddies and I build them safely, and we have a plan for if they get bigger than what we are comfortable with.

We love to cook deep fried turkey. Dangerous, if done badly. We have a back up plan, and another back up plan if the backup plan doesn't work. No casualties, so far. Dave's turkey cannon was a smoker, not a deep fryer, so it doesn't count.

BTW, deep frying a turkey requires some knowledge of physics, including things like displacement. You have to plan in advance, and measure everything exactly. And no, NEVER use a frozen turkey. And, ALWAYS turn off the flame heat source before SLOWLY lowering your bird into the hot oil. Then, wait a few minutes for your oil to settle down from the steam coming from a turkey full of moisture. Then re-light.

That's not certain. When I was a kid, we had Borstals. " A Borstal was a type of youth detention centre in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.. Borstals were run by HM Prison Service and were intended to reform young people through fear. I came close a couple of times because of my temper. I knew kids who had been "in" a few times, they usually came out more damaged but fitter. We had borstals as well as a kid my mum used to threaten me with them. I knew a few who stole cars ended up in there.

A certain family member-not mine-was messing about on the school bus and set light to it. His folks refused to pay for the damage so he had to wash cars/deliver newspapers etc..to earn the cash to pay for the damage..lesson learned.

last week I finished on Wednesday and had a lovely long weekend, came in today-the system was down-back up and running around 9.30-I had 90 emails

Another of my friends died this morning.

I don't know which is most upsetting: searching through my list of Facebook friends to tell them or discovering how many of my Facebook friends are dead already.
Sorry to hear that, Yorky. I know my folks (both 82) have mentioned more than once that "everyone our age...well, we don't know anyone our age anymore, they're all dead." :(

Sad news Yorky, and very sobering thoughts. I lost an old schoolfriend a few weeks ago and shook me up a bit, so I can understand how you must be feeling.

Have you ever cooked a "caveman steak?" You take a really good piece of beef, and toss it directly on red-hot coals. I've done it once. It was really rather good. The ashes don't stick to the meat like you would think they would.
