Thanks for updating us on your situation, SatNav. A lot us us have been wondering. Spring is on the way down there, so hopefully that will put a "spring" in your step. The arrival of spring generally puts me in a better mood.

Hi SatNavSaysStraightOn! đź‘‹

A lot of us have been worried about you, and asking after you, and thinking about you and yours. Glad to hear your folks made it back home, and I presume your hubby is recuperating as well.

Not much else to say except you've been missed. Welcome back!
Thanks. It's been a very trying time because I couldn't say anything to family about my step-father and his situation, not even to his son but getting anyone to remember to take time out to talk to him and mum was really hard.

Financially it has cost us a massive amount aswell sadly. But the biggest stress and toll has been to our physical and emotional health.

Hubby is recovering really well, but the expected recovery rate for an ankle fusion with his degree of Osteoarthritis is 12-18 months per ankle. That was the first of his ankles to be done. His next operation is planned for next February. Hopefully I'll be back on my feet and struggling less with Chronic pain (lower back, Spinal card damage & sciatic nerve damage) and the ongoing and new pain from severe osteoarthritis in both hips (and probably ankles as well).

I can identify with you. Like a lot of people, Covid has dealt me a major whammy financially. I also deal with chronic pain, but I've kind of gotten used to it. Sciatic nerve pain comes and goes with me. I inherited bad hips from my dad, and they pinch my sciatic nerve on and off. I know EXACTLY how you feel when it comes to sciatic nerve pain. REALLY annoying. I've had on and off problems with my left knee for 20 years, and just ignored it. Now it is all the time. Caused by a combination of having the family "bird legs," and abuse from work and play. I've put it off long enough.

But, ever the optimist, I say, "Keep your chin up!" And NEVER lose your sense of humor.

That is fantastic news for all parties. I've not been that active recently for many reasons, but I have been following what has been going on with yourself.

Yes it is! So glad he's finally getting the help he needs, and for it to be off our shoulders soon. 24 hour care is too much for a family to handle on top of all other responsibilities.
I hope he can back to his odd, but kind self he used to be.

That sounds really difficult, you've been through quite a year!
I Hope recovery will be good for your husband and you, because all these limitations make life very hard. And I also hope your pain will lessen.
I am glad to hear from you, was worried. Not without reason too, thanks for the update .

Today I finished my very first cookbook, where I write down the recipes I like to cook or the recipes I want to try. I've had this book since I was 15 or 16 (I'm 29 now) :D It came as merchandising from a glossy teenage magazine I used to buy and it was meant to be used as a personal diary. My mom, ever the curious, once caught the book on the living room and decided to read it. She was very disappointed to learn it was a cookbook.

TastyReuben she now has my teenage sister to taunt. She doesn’t have a diary though she doesn’t enjoy writing. Back in the day my mother once told me: If you keep a diary you must hide it from me if I find it I will read it. She kept her word, only she didn’t find my real diary, I hid it better than I hid the cookbook.
