First day back to work after six days off. Signed on at 9AM, by 9:15AM, I had to set my Skype to do-not-disturb to block all the "I see you're back, can you help with...l IMs and phone calls.

Really, I'm not online for more than a few minutes, and they all start piling on. 😒

This was something that I always had to factor in when I was working and had been off sick. I always used to think I'd be back at work a day or two earlier if it was not for the fact i needed to be strong enough to handle the flood hates opening... (I was the sole IT engineer in a boarding school with 550 students and 150 staff, 25 servers and 600 or 700 school owned computers, plus we had to support all of the privately owned machines on our network (any OS, any language, and any architecture).

Mysteries of the universe, part 775:

Why is it that my very old and very cheap analogue watch keeps perfect time, but nothing that has a digital clock does?

We just had a thing on the news here, a guy in timaru bought a Rolex watch and it kept gaining/ losing time, I don't remember which. They got Rolex people involved and they said they can't get it 100% right. The guy got his money back. His home wall clock kept better time than the Rolex. Lol.

Unexpected twist:

I am in hospital for an ileus ( blockage of the small bowel) . It needs removing with a clysma, but if that doesn't work I need a bowel resection ( surgery) pray for me that the klysma works!

I really don't want an unexpected bowel surgery.. They put me on morfine for the pain, so this is no small thing. But if I am lucky I will be back home tomorrow with a functioning bowel.

Looks like my surgery will be on Monday, the 21st. I should have all the details tomorrow.

Traveling is out of the question for at least one week, per doctor's orders.

Wishing you the best too! I did read your posts and was going to reply, but obviously I got pretty distracted. Hope I won't join you in the Christmas recovery ward.. wish you good luck and a speedy recovery!

Good luck with it. Too much medical stuff going on with our members.

In my case, I knew this surgery would eventually had to be done. When they said, "It's time," back in October (?), I told them I need to do it before the end of the year, because my annual deductible and maximum out of pocket has been met for 2020. For the Yurripeens, when we reach our deductible and max out of pocket, we pay nothing until the next calendar year.

So, we Mercans with health insurance rush at the end of the calendar year to get anything done that needs to be done. My insurance company will pay every penny of the cost of this procedure, as long as it gets done before the end of 2020. In January, I'll have to pay thousands of dollars of my own money for the same procedure.

It is currently 28F here in Frisco, that is a little less than -2C. This is well beyond good sleeping weather. This is hibernation weather.
