Boyfriend is like this too, but worse. He actually spills food all around himself and his plate. It's easy to figure where he's been eating because he leaves a trail of breadcrumbs, milk, tomato sauce and various other food remains wherever he eats. He doesn't notice it usually, when he does he cleans. I actually find it amusing, I no longer have to worry about being a clumsy eater since he is one too 😂
 
There are talks about Trump and his supporters planning another attack before Inauguration Day. Some are suggesting it be done in a secure location or possibly virtually to ensure Biden's and Harris' safety.

I understand that Trump is upset about the election results but I never imagined he would go this far to try to retain the seat. His Twitter account was permanently banned but that may not be enough to stop any plans that are being set in motion.

I was afraid that Obama would be assassinated but that went away relatively quickly. Now, I am genuinely concerned for our President-Elect and VP-elect. I never thought I'd live to see the day when people would try to knock democracy on its proverbial head. It's heartbreaking.

People who follow extremist groups say there was a lot of "chatter" leading up to the riot. They were shocked that security wasn't increased for the Electoral College vote counting. There were even t-shoots that read "MAGA Civil War, January 6, 2021" seen at the riot. You don't have that kind of t-shirts at a "spontaneous" riot.

Bad thing is, there is a lot of "chatter" online about more violent actions leading up to the inauguration. The same groups, including Q-Anon, The Proud Boys, The Oath Keepers, the Three Percenters and Neo Nazi group networks, are very active, as well as "militias."

I believe Trump and his family are cowards, they may melt away over the coming weeks as they become irrelevent to the political process, however they will leave behind a lot of bigots, racists and thugs who will reform around a potentially more dangerous figurehead - a smart one. I fear much more blood will be spilled before they are put back in their box.

It looks like you are correct. This article states that Biden probably won't say "no".

I found this online...

"Air Force One is simply the designation given to whatever plane the sitting president flies on. So if Trump boards Air Force One before Biden's inauguration to attend his rally, he is still the sitting president."

"Traditionally, as a courtesy, incoming presidents allow their predecessors to fly home on one of the two custom Boeing 747s . Biden, however, probably won't deny Trump use of the plane in a show of bipartisanship and respect for the office."

Ah yes, that article was written a month ago though, a lot has happened since then, hell, a lot has happened since Tuesday. It was reported in the UK today (unverified) that the Cabinet is continuing to function but without the inclusion of Trump and that we shouldn't expect any further resignations as they have collectively decided to stay in place to limit any further damage the President might try to do.

I can't believe I'm actually writing this.

My apologies. I tried to find something more current on the use of AF1 but couldn't.

Like you, I can't believe this is even a conversation. I want to wake up and it was all just a bad dream.
 
An interesting piece on local radio today. Turns out the last time Washington was effectively stormed was by British forces, in 1812. apparently, we took exception to the "theft" of British owned property and so decided to administer some punishment. A regiment from my home town was involved in the action. How times have changed.

I thought it was actually 1814 but occurred during the War of 1812. I will have to look that up to double check.

Edited to add that yes, it was 1814. But what's 2 years when we are talking about something that happened over 200 years ago?

US Capitol's last breach was more than 200 years ago
