I've been to Italy several times, as well as Mexico and several of the Caribbean Island countries, as well as the USVI and Puerto Rico.

Craig has been to several European countries, Mexico, New Zealand, and several of the Caribbean island countries to work on mega yachts, as well as vacation to Italy, Mexico, and the Caribbean with me.

I've been to Puerto Rico a half dozen times, and St. Thomas, USVI once. I didn't count those in my 12 since they are part of the US. Same with Hawaii.

Passports are probably less relevant in the EU, as we can travel to a bunch of countries using only our ID card.

Brexit made me a bit sad as I love London, there're plenty of cheap low cost flights from Lisbon to London I have a friend who lives there so for me visiting London used to be easy and affordable. Not anymore, doesn't make sense to me to renew my passport only to visit London 3 or 4 days per year.
That's one of the main stupidities of Brexit. The EU offered Britain tarriff free trading and open travel, but it was our moronic government who insusted that we must have third country status with full border checks. Now schoolkids are waiting 12 hours at the port of Dover to get their passports stamped. Utter farce.

JAS_OH1 - I noticed your sad face on that - would you believe I’ve passed up three free-or-nearly-free-trips to Hawaii? No interest in going.

For me, it’s U.K./Europe or stay home.

You don't know what you are missing. I love Mexico, I have been a dozen times, and Canada is awesome as well (been there maybe 15 times?).

Hawaii? Well I was very young and it was just a layover on a flight to Okinawa and again on the way home, so didn't get to spend time to enjoy it, but I would love to go sometime. It's rather expensive so it's not going to happen anytime soon. But you don't really look like the beachy type, so...to each their own!

Can I suggest you fly over Hawaii and keep going, the Polynesian islands are wonderful.

Travel wise I can claim to have travelled right around the World in one trip. For our wedding trip to Fiji and Austalia it was much cheaper to buy a round the world multi-stop ticket than a normal single route return.

I'm not so sure TR would like Mexico. I won't go to an all-inclusive Mexican resort, and I'm not TR.

Now, Hawaii is different. I just landed in Honolulu, and moved on to other islands. I love Kauai. It is beautiful, and there's nothing to do there but relax and enjoy the beauty. But, the weather isn't miserable, which might bother Tasty. :D One day, I took my rental car up a mountain road, and sat on a rock, as the clouds rolled over me. One minute I was in a cloud, and the next I wasn't. It was nice and cool up there, too.

The big Island was interesting, too. Kilauea had erupted one year earlier, and I walked on a lava flow that was still crackling as it cooled. If you looked into cracks, you could see red hot magma about three feet down.

I was just mentioning them. Is that a problem for you?

Ummmm... no.

I went back and forth on whether to include Puerto Rico in my list. It is a US territory, but it is not a State, and going there is like going to another country. I had completely forgotten that I went to St. Thomas once.

My reply to your post was just a random thought. It was not, in any way, meant to offend you.

The good news
I've just been discharged from hospital.

The bad news
We can't go straight home. It's lunchtime and every thing is closed because it's a public holiday.

The reason:
I think even my nurse was fed up of the doctors changing my medication without talking to anyone. Example. I'm on blood thinners following surgery. I'm on clexane which is an injection. I've been doing it, not the nurses. I was given it last time (not to mention 6 months of injecting twice a day for treatment of pulmonary embolisi) and discharged with a supply of it last time as well. Two nights ago, however, the overnight ward doctor changed the discharge medication to a tablet blood thinner. Didn't tell anyone, so pharmacy issued the tablets not the injection. It was my nurse this morning who caught that one. I can't have the tablet without trying it first in hospital and seeing if I'm allergic to the tablet stabiliser and filter (it contains dairy). I will not (and I point blank refuse to even consider) take a brand new medication (or one that has had an ingredient change) at home 1½hrs from hospital or any emergency help (particularly over a public holiday). If I have to go into something new where there is no alternative available, it has to be done under medical supervision (and my GP agrees and has told me to refuse because my anaphylaxis causes my throat and tongue to swell).

So now we have to go 1½ hrs home via a city centre pharmacy to collect a script for something the hospital should have issued me with, but because it's a public holiday, the hospital pharmacy is closed, all because a junior doctor didn't check (even with any of the nursing staff) that I could actually have the medication despite my medical notes making it clear I can't have dairy. Why they even changed it is beyond me. Looking in my notes would have told them that was what I was discharged with last time.

And despite it being lunchtime, there is nothing open because it is a public holiday. Fuel stations only.
