There's a reason why some people (mostly in NYC) in the USA are of Irish-Italian descent. I think you love the culture (and architecture) but perhaps the culture of the peoples came across the pond with them decades ago?

The rose is happy this year!
The yellow roses opened this morning, the yellow- orange yesterday and the red are older blooms.
The pink rose is a wild rose that I planted to attract beneficial insects to the garden.

These were taken about 10 minutes apart, I guess the sun must have come up just enough to start to colour the sky.

Very jealous. It's forecast to be 31°C here today with 36°C by the end Monday. I'm back to living in the dark with the blinds down, windows and door shut and studying without a view.
None of that cr*p here. 
Wonderful 27C until about 6pm, when it dropped to 21C.
