Treating yourself

Yes. Lu and I don't buy each other presents, she is all I want in my life. Instead we indulge ourselves with quality food and treats. My favourite is fresh dresed crab, but artisan cheese, the best iberico and of course hand made chocolates are also on our lists, With my impending new eating regime, quality high calorie foods are going to become a necessity not a treat 😁

I have a side gig that I make a few extra bucks at. I work for a friends Security Consulting company. I also do well at my hobby, poker. When I have a nice poker night, are make a few bucks with my friend. I will often treat us somewhere nice. This weekend I am taking my lovely partner to Grand Rapids Michigan. I am covering the entire trip with my "fun" money. We are renting a place in downtown. We are going to eat, drink, and enjoy the sites. Everything will be "free" lol.

When I want to treat myself to something nice. I will buy a good bottle of bourbon or scotch. My go to for the "treat" is usually Lagavulin 16.

I frequently buy gelato ice cream at the local parlor for myself during spring and summer, my husband isn't as fond of ice cream as I am. I have one at least once a week, so that's my treat.

Also my luxury coffee bean brand, mill and syrups are mine , my husband gets migraines from coffee.

As for the extra luxurious things like foie gras and caviar, we do share those. I wouldn't enjoy keeping it to myself.

As the years have passed by and DH & I no longer work, I indulge us with whatever I can find here in Cowboyville Arizona, which really isn't much.

At Christmas time, Costco here will carry from time to time Dom Perignon Champagne, although I must say that as Missus Next Door Neighbor said, I'm not picky about my wine ... and I never knew that DH loves Caviar AND Escargot.

I use to make Pate for myself and my Father, but now that he's gone, I don't do so any longer, we were the only ones who liked that. Terrine Maison (I had to pull down my cookbook to find the name - Country style Pate was in my brain), that's it! YUM! With freshly baked bread, a glass (or three) of Champagne - I'm in heaven!

On the other side of the coin, gimme some 2 day old Poi, Opihi, a really good Laulau, I mean REALLY good - basically foods from Hawaii.
I'm looking at you Oahu, we'll see you soon, fingers crossed.

I'm treating myself right now. A big bowl of fruit with some vanilla custard and acacia sorbet.

One of the great things about Australian food is their fruit. It is so much better than the UK (and homegrown is better still).

I actually like the domestic Chandon, of Moet and Chandon, better than Dom. Perrier Jouet is pretty good as well. The flower bottle is pretty, but the regular bottle's taste is better to me.

If you find it, the White Toque brand of escargot is really good. Their compound butter is really good.

Wow, I love the color of the sorbet, like black raspberry ice cream here. Beautiful.
