Vehicles

You have no idea. MrsT is an exhaustive researcher with anything, but especially anything that costs this much, so reliability, price, fuel efficiency…that’s just the start.

It moves on to obvious things like comfort, visibility, how it drives, but soon gets into things like…”This steering wheel is…I don’t know, it’s just too…round,” to “This armrest, which I’ll never use, is too long/short,” to “I don’t like the floor mats,” to “I don’t like his attitude <the salesperson>,” and on and on.

She almost makes me feel bad for the sales people - if there’s even the slightest hint of them trying to push a car on her, forget it: “I’m not working with them, too high pressure!” but if they don’t show any interest at all, then it’s, “I’m not working with them, they sure don’t act like they want my business!”

She’s currently torturing one salesman, because he committed the cardinal sin of contacting her during her work conference, after she told him twice not to contact her, as she was away for work, so now, she’s dangling some interest in front of him, getting him all worked up, and then snatching it back, only to wait and then start all over again.

The guy trying to sell us a car got wifes cell. He pestered her for weeks at a time she had a lot on. In the end she blocked him. The guy didn't get it??
The guy at another dealership took a laid back approach and got the sale.
A rascal tip for tasty::
Buy at the end of the month and offer say? 3k discount and a tank of gas.
That's what I did.

Boys new cars have just been delivered which they know nothing about so the plan is to spring the surprise on them. I’m thinking “pick a hand” and then just giving them the keys.
There’s only one letter difference in the number plate which is sweet. Can’t wait to see their faces.
Wow, parents buying kids cars??? I don't know how many hours I had to work at KFC to buy my first 20yo Chevy.

Hope they appreciate it.

They really do.
They are leased so it’s just a bit of support for a couple of years. Makes it easier for them to get a job and easier for them to help us out in the business when we need a hand. Win win.

To get my first car in 1982 (a 9yo 4-door vinyl-top Impala), I had to trade my calf I was raising…to my dad (“Boy, in this world, yah don’ get nuthin’ without givin’ somethin’!”).

We bought used cars for our kids when they each turned 17. After that it was on them, but they worked and figured it out.

I got to use my Dad's car for work until I bought mine and had to pay for the gas, cut the grass for the insurance, and perform weekly inspection to insure operability and safety.

We were both working so we needed our cars and they all had jobs (and were involved in sports) but we didn't have the time or inclination to play taxi driver taking them everywhere. Our youngest graduated high school at 16 as a sophomore and immediately started attending Akron U, so she definitely needed a way to get to her classes and then to work and social activities. We had the money so it wasn't a hardship, and they were used but reliable cars, so not expensive. Three of our four kids put themselves through college with scholarships, grants, and loans, and they worked and paid their own way for meals, rent, vehicle care, etc. The fourth continued to work until she met her husband and is now a stay at home mom with three kids of her own. The other three all have good jobs and are doing great.

Our parents bought us cars (mine was a truck) when we were teenagers, I think DH got his at 16 and I got mine at 17. I think he wrecked his first couple of cars. I drove mine until I was about 26 and bought a new one.

My plans for today: looks like my project packet is arriving this afternoon so I can get started with some work later this afternoon.

Which one did he get?
Ford Puma. It’s a hybrid, has reversing cameras, internet connectivity, huge heads up display and a bang and olufsen sound system which seems to be important when you’re young.
Personally I like the the built in mag charger for the phone. My car charger wires always seem to end up in quite a state!

Well I got my project packet yesterday and got some work done. Now trying to decide if I'm going to work this afternoon or not. It will depend on the weather partially but also on the customer volume in the stores, as heavy foot traffic will slow down the work process considerably.

I'm with you on the cool wireless charger feature. And the wires gone wild in my car because I don't have one.
