What’s going on in your garden (2025)?

The garlic that I planted on Halloween is growing nicely
hoping to get my garlic in the ground either this weekend/Monday or next weekend. It is in the fridge in a cold dark place at the moment to try to force it to start growing earlier than it wants to. then I have to dig up some strawberry plants or the potatoes in order to plant it. I will probably move the strawberries to where the potatoes are growing and put the garlic where the strawberries were. need to think on that, so I guess it might have to be next weekend, but I don't want to leave it too much later. It is good growing conditions at the moment (except for an amazing lack of rain that is)

Barriehie If you want to upgrade, look at an inkbird. I use the 308 for beer making

Thank you for the links!

This is the first year I'm starting from seeds so we'll see how it goes. Last year I could afford the few plants I had but not anymore. I'm upscaling to lower food costs. I hope to have enough this year to use my pressure canner and put some food away. 🤞

I got my garlic in early September and kept it in a paper bag in the fridge until Halloween to plant it. They're about 2' tall now. Growing like crazy.

Good to see you guys germinating and I'm coming to the end of it. Autumn here we are picking last of the tomatoes.
I thought about growing garlic but a friend of my wifes grows it commercially so I bought a kg off her.. $7 'cheap as chips.

I'm trying to grow enough garlic you have a bulb a week. This is my first go with it so I'll see how it turns out. I'm growing Purple Creole which stores well but not sure how big the bulbs are.

I used to get mine from a mate at rangiora but he has some bad soil. He changed to virgin ground but it still spoiled. Seems its quite hit or miss. Good luck with yours

Russ
Didn't know that. When I harvest these I'm going to hang them up to store.
