I once got in a heated argument with the in-store "master" baker at Kroger. I was asking for sponge cake, and he directed me to the angel food cakes. He maintained that angel food cake and sponge cake were the same thing.

I'm doing a Victoria sponge. I saw a number of recipes online yesterday that refer to angel food cake being a sponge cake, but also saw an explanation of why they aren't the same. New territory for me.

Well after a delay last week, I finally managed to do my very first cake today - a Victoria sponge. Quite pleased for a first attempt at any kind of baking.

Well Easter is quickly approaching so its time to get the hot cross buns perfected!

I dont use mixed peel as a lot of my family dont like it, so instead i use a marmalade glaze in place of your standard bun wash.

Of course you then need to toast them and put a disgusting amount of butter on them!
