What did you cook, eat or drink today (August 2018)?

Beef and vegetable kabobs with assorted bell peppers and onions. Marinated in minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce. Cooked on the indoor grill. Tabouli salad using couscous instead of bulgur, with chopped cucumbers, onion, Roma tomatoes, parsley, dressed with lemon juice and olive oil. Naan on the side.

:hyper: That's my recipe! Looks like you used a few more pink peppercorns than I did? The whole thing looks gorgeous - perfect partner with pork chops. Any crit?
When you posted the recipe I commented that I thought it would go well with pork chops, and it really did! The recipe worked perfectly, the only trouble I had was keeping the fennel slices whole, but I think that was due to slicing off too much of the base. The sauce was divine. I had to resist the temptation to add a drop of brandy to it for some reason. I later worked out why - it's flavour profile is not unlike a stroganoff sauce, which means that it would also work well with beef.

Serving the beans (and mushy peas) in a separate "dish" appears to have become quite common. Even saw it in Singapore.

We were supposed to have lobster ravioli with red bell pepper sauce last night, but after he cooked the lobster (they were on sale for $6.99 per tail yesterday) and charred the red bells, and I made the pasta dough and cooked the onions and garlic for the sauce and filling, he decided he didn't want to do anymore. So, we had an impromptu chef's salad with some ham from the freezer.

We went to our county fair last night with my son and his friends.

It's an old tymey farm type fair, with horse shows, farm animal judging, agricultural demonstrations and judging, exotic animals (giraffes, camels, and others), eating contests, piglet racing, sheep dog obstacle course, tractor pulls, demolition derby rides, and carnival games and ride. And of course food.

We sampled a few things for dinner: corn dogs, smoked turkey legs, chicken on a pita, spiral sliced fried potatoes, blooming onion, and a mozzarepa. It was so humid and muggy out we must have had 6 big lemonades between my wife and I and were still thirsty on the way home.
